Brambles Bed and Breakfast, hotel in Uffculme

Originally dating back to the mid-1600s, Brambles Bed & Breakfast is a Grade II listed cottage in hidden and unspoilt Whitnage, a quiet rural hamlet less than 10 minutes' drive from Tiverton.

The room was lovely and clean and had everything we needed. Alison even bought us fresh milk instead of the usual sachets of milk. Plenty of choice for breakfast from continental to the good Devon fry up. The local pub had plenty of choice for an evening meal and we could have walked to it had it not been raining. We are used to driving through country lanes in Cornwall so we weren’t bothered by the narrow lane to get to the cottage. Alison sent us very good instructions for getting to the property.

The staff were excellent friendly and accommodating to our needs . The rooms were what we required but could have been a little cleaner and the decorating could be a bit better finished. We would recommend others to stay

Room was adequate and warm. Kitchen was closed so no breakfast, staff recommend local cafe due to open at 9am but it stayed closed. Had evening meal in local Pub Halfway House. Food and service there was superb. Uffculme very busy traffic through village. Wouldn't stay at Ostler Inn again due to no food being served

Easy to find and in nice area for walking and pub visits etc

Easy to find and in nice area for walking and pub visits etc Lovely spacious tent with wood burner. Bring walking boots or wellies and umbrella to visit kitchen or loo, as site is all grass with no dry paths and you quickly get sodden when it's raining. Traffic noise almost constant however mostly tuned out by birdsong! Culm Valley is lovely for footpath walks by river and in woods but you need car to get there as a few miles from the actual camp site along narrow, busy little roads. Whilst here visit Culm Valley Inn which is a gem and also dog friendly, which is a big benefit of Daisy Acres - our dogs loved it.Visit Coldharbour Mill too, nice cafe and beautiful gardens plus interesting working woolen mill (Go Thursdays to see it work)

The Christmas light switch-on event was a complete surprise for such a little village. Everyone was thoroughly involved and the village centre was packed yet there wasn't a single item of rubbish anywhere to be seen when we walked through the area early the next morning. The café is gorgeous and the staff are welcoming and accommodating beyond compare. The pub is great and the rooms are reasonably priced for their facilities and what the village offers. There are some lovely walks in the area with tarmacked paths so they are suitable for wheelchair users. The community spirit is heart-warming and I look forward to attending more events there in the future.

There isn't really much at Uffculme, two pubs, a Co-op shop and a rather expensive cafe with a very limited menu, mainly snacks, so not really a place to have proper meals. There appears to be a bus service, although we didn't use it. Basically, unless you have a particular reason for going there or staying there, you might be better advised to consider somewhere with more facilities.

The staff were very good unfortunately we had a long wait to eat over one hour. We were advised only on on duty, the room was new, recently constructed. The door was basic entering the room not very secure.
