Very old building, the staff were lovely. Very dog friendly. Lots of breakfast choices. Beds were very comfortable & had everything you could think of in the room. We had dinner a couple of nights and the food was exceptional and worth the price. Fresh caught fish on the day and just good old style pub. For the dog owners there's a lovely walk just 5 minutes walk away, walking through the old market square of Broughton-in-Furness to the old railway line.

Did the job, cute wee room above a traditional Cumbrian pub. Great place to stay if you also want to enjoy some real ales and Cumbrian food. The staff were all lovely and it had good heating (not always the case in these parts). The breakfast the next day was tasty and served in front of a roaring fire.
This traditional Lake District inn is set in the quiet village of Far Sawrey.

Supper menu was limited but food options were wholesome and well prepared. The staff running the hotel were very friendly and always went out of their way to help and advise about the area.

Absolutely stunning building and room, very rustic and atmospheric. The staff (especially Andy) were exceptional, warm friendly and incredibly welcoming. The food was to die for! Meals in the bar were amazing and the breakfasts were simply delicious.

Comfortable and friendly place to stay.
Close to the centre of Hawkshead.
This was our second stay here and it didn't disappoint.
This was our second stay here and it didn't disappoint. Beautiful location, great pub and friendly locals. Food here is spectacular but if you fancy a change there is The Blacksmiths Arms about 20 minute drive away. Very oldie worldy but again the food is totally worth it; the lamb is to die for. Another is the Ship Inn on the way into Coniston village. Proper pie served here not the flaky pastry lids you get in most other pubs. Travel wise you do need the car but then there is a nice 7-8 mile round trip walk down to coniston water, into the village then back up into Torver

The cottage was clean and bed comfortable.
The cottage was clean and bed comfortable. No hot water or heating. No one answering phone, so not able to get it fixed.
Hot tub in upstairs apartment very noisy all the time.
No one dealing with issues. Being promised that I’d be contacted and then being ignored.
Could have been so different if I’d been contacted.
Dealing with complaints is essential in a successful business.

Torver is not much more than a T junction but it is a beautiful area and footpaths will take you down to Coniston water and along to Coniston or up into the hills. There are two pubs / restaurants but only The Wilsons / Wilson’s Arms was open when we stayed there and they also operate a small deli shop.

The Wilson arms is quaint very pretty beautiful area stunning views very clean fantastic food and the staff are lovely friendly people especially Christine couldn’t do enough went out of their way to help with any request . Just felt though the ladies toilets downstairs are not very conducive for older people both toilets separated by huge slabs of what appears to be slate and door on one has gap in it no privacy . Only minutes away from Coniston, Torver has all the benefits but without a premium price tag. The pub food is first class ~ a great menu selection at sensible prices. Their breakfast will keep you going until evening dinner!
Fantastic breakfast cooked to order each day, good selection.
Room was extremely comfortable with a beautiful new bathroom and well stocked toiletries and tea tray.
Parking easy, just a few minutes drive into Coniston or the other way into Torver.
Wonderful host, Stuart could have not done enough for me, extremely hospitable, thank you.
Smashing hosts the room was lovely! Shower super powerful just takes a while to come through but the host explains this. There is a nice continental breakfast I had cereal crumpets and fruit. Smashing value for money. There is a nice pub doing food a very short walk from this hotel and a decent evening walk into Conniston and back.
The hotel is lovely, just a shame the hotel bar/restaurant was unavailable due to lack of staff. there was a marquee available offering food and drinks but was not to our taste.
The staff at breakfast are very accommodating and friendly and breakfast was excellent!
Rooms are cosy and very clean.
Torver is perfectly situated for lots of activities- Coniston Lake tours, museums of Blue Bird events, hiking, sailing, visiting Grassmere and Ambleside and Windemere, etc. The little glamping caravan was cute, cosy, clean.
Great location, comfortable room and wonderful staff.
Love staying in Torver.
Lots of great walking: down to the lake, up to Old Man of Coniston and into Coniston via the disused railway line.
Very clean and comfortable room. Great hotel and great breakfast. The staff at the hotel were extremely nice and open to answering any questions about our stay. Would go again.
