It was very cute, cozy and quiet. Despite it very small size it had absolutely everything we needed.

The Saxon inn is a quaint, tastefully refurbished Inn, with a pleasant garden which is tucked away in a quiet spot in the pretty village of Child Oxford. The inn seemed well frequented by locals who were very friendly. Richard and Sarah - the proprietors - are lovely and were very welcoming (all the staff were great too) - our room was a good size , very comfortable clean and quite new. The food was fabulous, we had a great evening meal and breakfast, authentic coffee- and we were able to park there too - great stay - would thoroughly recommend.

We absolutely loved everything about it. The hosts were so friendly and welcoming, if we could rate them more than a 10/10 we would! They made sure we had everything we needed and took care to show us where everything was in the hut (which was very well supplied with appliances, even a hob and oven to cook!). On arrival were even given a loaf of homemade bread still warm out of the bread-maker, fresh eggs from their own chickens, and a lovely big bit of delicious butter for our breakfast in the morning. The cabin was lovely and warm with its own little log burner, and there were plenty of unrestricted windows if we needed some fresh air. The bed was super comfy and in perfect condition with a lovely big duvet and 2 pillows each. There was a fire pit and a basket of logs with fire lighters so we had a BBQ, and the cabin was set at the back of the field giving us all the peace, quiet and privacy we needed for an absolutely lovely weekend. Thank you hosts! We’ll be back very soon :)
Great place!
Communication with the hosts was detailed & friendly. Although we never got a chance to meet them they were very welcoming.
So lovely to find this little gem & able to accommodate dogs!
Highly recommended 👌

Sherbourne Gardens were lovely to walk round.
Sherbourne Gardens were lovely to walk round.
Lulworth Cove beautiful as always.
Stalbridge has a couple of pubs. Fish/chip shop which must have been good as long queue outside. Although we didn't go there. Local Chinese takeaway - good food. It has a lovely local Supermarket which sells everything!!
Avoid your Sat Nav on reaching Stalbridge it takes you to remote places.

Stalbridge, Hinton St Mary and the local villages are worth visiting. The mill at Sturminster Newton was fascinating and a photographer's dream. Visit the vending machine and pop up shop at the home of Dorset Blue Vinny cheese.

The independent shop in Stalbridge, called Dikes, had everything you could want for a weekend stay. All the basics plus some luxury items by local food suppliers. I was only there for one night but will definitely stay longer next time.
