The breakfast was delicious and it was quiet at night, even with us being on the relatively busy Union Street. The beds were also quite comfy.
The best thing about the hotel is the staff, though. All very friendly and accommodating.
This majestic Victorian manor sits on Ryde seafront overlooking the marina. It features bright, elegant rooms with free Wi-Fi and hearty, traditional cuisine in its restaurant.

The apartment was sparkling clean with everything you needed and nothing was basic. It was like an extra treat. Even the dog got a little pack and a bed. Fridge had enough for a little breakfast after a late check in even though we didn't need it. The bed was super comfy, the wardrobe had plenty if hangers. The bathroom was so nice it made you want to have a shower.
I stay in Ryde all the time as my grandchildren live there and this was the best I have stayed in so far.
The host was lovely, polite, on hand but not smothering and even gave a little history on the building which I loved. It went well with the exquisite vintage style of furniture and decoration.
Lovely walk along the seafront. If you have spare bread take for the ducks, geese and swans,do not be scared of them.At the canoe lake. There is a swimming pool next to the canoe lake.Union strret have a good selection of shops and the High Street and a few along Cross street.Union Street is quite steep.

I went to Ryde, partly because there's a bus direct from East Cowes and the ferry - I don't take the car - and partly to see more of it. I'm not a beach lover but Ryde beach is good for those that are, and in season there's the pleasure pool etc for kids at the east end of the town. Buses go regularly to Newport, Sandown, Shanklin, Ventnor and Bembridge, and the Island Line Railway also goes to Shanklin, And up and down the pier. There are the hovercraft to / from Southsea, the bus / tram museum and shops to potter in. Eating places - Castle Hotel is good - and wonderful ice cream

We were on the island to visit various places so the location did not really matter as we had the car, however having now travelled all around next time we would choose a location with more of a little town environment. There was very little in Ryde.

Ryde buildings and look is tired and needs some refreshing, the train service is, at best, erratic with many cancellations which is annoying if you need to get to Smallbrook Junction. They say you can use the train ticket for the bus but the bus does not go there! However the bus service is good and reliable. The Alamo steak house is very good, excellent steaks cooked as requested.

Great cafes and restaurants.
Great cafes and restaurants. I was really impressed by the homemade cakes on offer. It makes such a change from the massproduced rubbish.
Loved the walks potential. I really wished I had stayed longer.

Apart from the Esplande and having a nice view from hotel room, very disappointed with Ryde.
Very tired looking town. High street shops not very good and lack of restaurants that you would like to eat in.
On the whole not a place we would revisit.
says, "The Royal Esplanade Hotel is a characterful Victorian Grade II Listed building that has been lovingly and sympathetically restored to ensure this beautiful hotel will continue to thrive for another 140 years!.
Probably the most impressive hotel on the Ryde seafront.
The breakfast was very good and the dining room was facing the sea.
There were many restaurants and bars within a short walking distance.
Very close to the hovercraft and pier to the ferry for those not arriving by car.
Nice residential area a little away from the centre of town. As we had a vehicle it was not a problem with our being able to visit the entire island without difficulty. Fiona and her husband Neil were very helpful and approachable offering part of their garden for outdoor use. The flat was in excellent condition with all mod. cons. Would highly recommend.
Breakfast was a superb bowl of fruit, extensive choice of cereal, fruit juice, tea/coffee and toast. No option of cooked breakfast - but I preferred what was offered.
I wanted somewhere that was not a hotel chain, and had character and a quiet garden and this was perfect.
Nice walk along quiet roads/cyclepath to Ryde
The location was amazing, it was right on the seafront and close to the main shopping area for ryde, it was close to a lot of the resteraunts and ryde bus station. They were able to accommodate to your tastes if you wanted something more, less or different for breakfasts, and they were always happy to help.
Ryde is a great town on Isle of Wight with great sandy beach a minute from the centre, the Marine is right in Ryde town centre, great and helpful staff plus the double deluxe room with see view was fabulous, spacious and very clean, we had extremely pleasant stay, highly recommend the Marine and Ryde!
The owner is wonderful! Very welcoming and accomodating. Hotel is in a good location with some parking available on site. Fridge in the room was a massive bonus! Rooms was a good size for our family of 3. We didn't use but there is a kitchen available on the ground floor.
Wonderful hotel, great service and comfortable beds for a good nights sleep. Perfect location within walking distance of the hovercraft service, crossing just 10 minutes from Portsmouth - so its a perfect place to stay in Ryde - Highly recommend, and outstanding service.
the property was in an excellent postition for the pier and catching buses, the hotel was well kept and clean
There was an outside garden well sheltered from wind also a large conservatory area, plenty of seats in doors to enjoy a drink.
A very clean and tidy room with a decked area which was very pleasant to sit in on a bright evening. A very quiet hotel with excellent breakfast. Jolie is an excellent host who is willing to undertake anything requested
The room was located near by to reach Ryde (5 mins walk). Space was clean, neat, spacious, comfy. Chris was kind enough to explain us about the island and it's specialities. Thanks Chris :)
All went very well. The dining room was very nice and the breakfasts very good. The bedroom was in a quiet spot and comfortable. The hotel for me was in a perfectly centrally located.
I like the hotel being a few minutes from the bus stops and town. Also Ryde bus museum is near by. The room is a very good place to stay. Breakfast is very good.
