I loved the quiet understated luxury and elegant furnishings. My room was airy with lots of windows. The bed is like sleeping on a cloud. The bathroom shower fabulous and boutique toiletries exquisite. Nespresso machine and shortbreads, and mix of teas all perfect. TV is high quality. I love the location close to the cathedral and the shops and restaurants close by in st Martin's Square and Loseby Lane. Marie on reception is a lovely helpful welcoming face at st Martin's and I really appreciated her help with any request. This was my second visit and it won't be my last.

The location was great just off the motorway but it felt like you were separate for everything else. the hotel is slightly older but the facilities are well looked after and we will definitely stay again next time we are at Donnington. You have to book to eat in the restaurant but the food was worth the wait.

Breakfast... Excellent local sausages. Freshly Squeezed proper Orange Juice.
Hotel in general, just what I needed, a nice little retreat that's not in a town centre.
Friendly and knowledgable staff that have the smart but casual way of Customer service.

I love staying here its my favourite hotel when we travel to this area for any reason and never book anywhere else been coming here for years. The staff are so friendly and helpful and the food is excellent. We held our mother's 90th birthday here and our 35th Wedding Anniversary a few years ago brilliant. We love the train station down the road and the village is in easy walking distance. There's a great little shop Norths near the railway bridge with wonderful treats and café worth a visit .

I was very much surprised, in a good way with the hotel.
I was very much surprised, in a good way with the hotel.
My single room was on the 2nd floor, which had spectacular views of the garden and the water feature. I wish I could have stayed longer!
The bathroom was a little outdated but clean and functional.
The floors throughout the hotel were very squeaky, which may only disturb you if you were a light sleeper.
I would certainly stay here again, staff were lovely, breakfast was awesome and the scenery was delightful!

Very pretty part of Leicestershire.
Very pretty part of Leicestershire. Absolutely NO MOBILE SIGNAL so you can hardly book a taxi except from a landline. Some people will love the fact that there's no mobile signal lol. Very good access to Swithlands, where we had a family wedding.

Both dinners in the restaurant were excellent, served by friendly and knowledgeable staff. Rooms were good, our room lock failed on second day so w were moved to another room. This was handled quickly and efficiently so no complaints. The Wi-Fi in the hotel was not working which was the only inconvenience.

First impression counts, hence our Room not having a phone, a TV remote control and the main lamp on the table not working reflects in our rating. Housekeeping should make a final check to ensure guests ' comfort.
All these were corrected as soon as the issues were raised. So top service from staff in front office. The hotel has some lovely grounds...very calming.
The place and grounds are amazing. Our room was in the more modern annexe building across the car park. It was spacious, clean and very comfortable. All of the staff were friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived. The restaurant served a good choice of tasty meals at reasonable prices and we were very happy to dine here throughout our stay. Breakfast was top notch and cooked fresh to order with a good selection of other items on offer. We had a really enjoyable weekend here exploring the local area and loved staying at this hotel.
The hotel was historic and fantastic!!
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The food was delicious and I couldn't fault it.
They even printed off some information about the history of the building which I thought was great.
The bedroom was huge with a separate seating area and a serperate bathroom.
We got married here in 2016 so we decided to come back for our anniversary. The building is as beautiful as I remember. Just lovely surroundings steeped in history. The hotel has a very comfortable lounge area which is perfect for a night cap. The staircase and chandelier is impressive.
Stunning location, amazing Knight's Templar history and slave abolition history. Friendly staff, well-priced accommodation and food. Lovely original features including Rothley Temple, stained glass windows, arched doorways etc. Gorgeous grounds to rear.
The hotel had w lovely feel about it. And the staff were all excellent from reception to bar staff and restaurant service. Just cannot fault it’s and will definitely be coming back and recommending this fabulous hotel
