I booked this hotel for my husband’s convenience as he was terminally ill, but he didn’t survive to attend the event. It’s a perfectly comfortable and acceptable hotel but given the room price, I feel the extra £13 per night for parking is unreasonable. The additional cost for breakfast is also steep, another £12/13. As I usually only have a small bowl of cereal for breakfast this is poor value for me. However, having a fridge in my room is a major plus, as I was able to store fresh milk in it and bring my own food.
I found the clothes storage in the room poor. There were no drawers in which to put underwear and folded clothes. The two shelves inside the wardrobe were too high for me and one was entirely blocked by the safe. Great to have a safe, but I didn’t want to keep my knickers in it.
Overall the staff and service was very good but I’m unlikely to stay there again as for me, the cost outweighs the benefits.

Easy to find, great car park which is secluded and a very easy check in / check out. Lovely food with a good atmosphere and friendly locals. Landlord is a top guy.

so conveniently situated... Easy to get into the town centre.
Ripley Castle has a Christmas Fair in November. Well worth a visit if you want to get your shopping done early and find something different from the internet. Ripley itself has an excellent, dog friendly, pub. (The food is great. Wine prices are steep. Beer is cheap.) There is also a great village shop, including a well run post office. Noticed, but didn't have time to visit, the butcher and gin distillery, but they looked good too.
