Lowestoft is a busy working port.
Lowestoft is a busy working port. It has stunning beaches with golden sands.
We have family who chose to live there so we are lucky enough to visit them often.
We are wildlife lovers so there are so many places to visit a ride away like Minsmere and Carlton Marshes and the Norfolk coast.
The trip boat for Oulton Broad goes from right outside the Wherry Hotel and smaller boats can be hired.

Lowestoft is a traditional seaside town.
Lowestoft is a traditional seaside town. A beautiful beach south of the town, great for bathing, games and walks, and a beach north of the town that is more scenic but inaccessible due to the tides and ruined old sea wall. Loads of local attractions to visit including Africa Alive, the Transport museum, Sparrows Nest Park, Oulton Broad and Claremont Pier. Some great restaurants to eat at, but especially Sgt Peppers on the High Street. And being the most easterly place in the UK, make sure you get up early to see the sun rise. Spectacular on a clear morning!

Interesting seaside town.
Interesting seaside town. South Beach was perfect plenty of places to eat. The town centre altho big seemed a bit tired but the beach and front area had a buzz about it. The port side of it made it interesting too
The bed and the breakfast were outstanding. Mark and Derek were fabulous hosts, always ready with some advice and help and so very friendly. The house is so tastefully decorated, a truly beautiful example of Victorian Lowestoft, so much so that I would buy it if I had a chance. The beds and pillows were so comfy, something really important to us, and the breakfast I can honestly say was the best I'd ever had in a hotel or B&B.
The hotel is in a very imposing setting, right on the broads with lovely views over the water. Close to a very nice park area. The breakfast was great with a good choice and the waitress very attentive. Our room was comfortable and clean with toiletries provided for the sink and shower. The bed was comfortable.
We enjoyed watching the amazing bridges that raised to allow boats into the Broads basin in front of the hotel.
The guest house was very welcoming and the facilities were excellent. There is step free access to the rooms and the room I had was blessed with a fabulous view of Lowestoft beach and the North Sea. The breakfast was filling and expertly cooked by Andy the chef. The Manager/Owner Ash was very knowledgeable and made many suggestions for things to do and see within the area. It was a great stay.
absolutely amazing, I was a little skeptical to start with as you only receive check in details on the stay of the stay. However this hotel was lovely, very clean great sized rooms. Most hotels at this present moment do not clean rooms or change towel etc during your stay. To our amazement when returning to our room towels were changed and beds made it was wonderful.
Very good hotel, with friendly and helpful staff (a member of kitchen staff even rustled up an early breakfast at 6.30). Excellent breakfast with extensive hot food menu. Modern rooms, comfortable beds, clean bathrooms. Quiet location, just outside Lowestoft, ideal for exploring the Suffolk and Norfolk coasts.
The room was adequate. Very clean. Comfortable bed. The room was being serviced each day - which surprised us as all during the covid year we were told at hotel receptions that no room service was available. So this was a pleasant surprise. The staff were all very friendly. Breakfast buffet was nice.
Breakfasts were very good, and catered for my allergy requirements. The room was spacious and comfortable with a nice glimpse of the sea. I would say that the hotel is located in the the nicer part of Lowestoft (and the beach is beautiful sand). The owners went out of their way to make us feel welcome.
Very well located within the south beach area of Lowestoft with easy access to promenade and beach. Hotel was very clean, comfortable and the owners were very good and created a very relaxed, comfortable environment to be staying in. Very good breakfast cooked to order.
Cannot fault this hotel. The overall ambience is one of welcome and comfort. Food was delicious. Nothing too much trouble for the staff. They were all extremely helpful. We wish we could have stayed longer. The grounds are very pretty and lovely to sit in and relax.
The Salty Dogs Chalet is well situated for days out in the Lowestoft and Yarmouth areas.
Chalet is very close….5 min walk down to the beach…..which is mix of heath, sand and shingle.
Great for walks and walking distance to nearby pubs, restaurants and local shop.
Nice room, we have stayed in this one before. Clean and comfy beds, shower was adequate. its an old hotel, and we appreciate its age and understand it. The bar area is very nice. Beautiful terrace.
Nice breakfast and a high chair was even provided for our son which was a lovely touch. A wonderful location right on the seafront. A nice warm welcome and a very well presented hotel.
Staff very friendly, efficient and helpful. View of seafront was perfect. Bed, room and facilities were amazing. Free late checkout was very good and helped us relax before leaving.
