The room was clean, a very good size with a comfortable bed. extra towels and pillows were provided. Sound proofing was good as we didn't we hear the traffic at all. Unfortunately it made the room very airless and in the heat I would imagine very stifling, a fan is provided. So if you want the window open I would suggest ear plugs. Had to ask for extra milk and teabags a few times, as only provided with one tea bag and milk each. During our stay, we noticed a bulb gone, and the extractor fan was not working properly in the bathroom, We reported it and the faults were acted on.
This time we didn't pay the extra £11 for breakfast, as not big eaters ,although previously we have eaten breakfast there and had no complaints. A choice of full English or continental , its a buffet service.
On leaving the hotel site, there are car park barriers for patrons of the hotel and the road takes you on to a roundabout which is usually very busy. There is a KFC, and an Asda Express Garage, for snacks and papers, plus a Cash machine, on the same site as the hotel.
The comfortable and functional ibis budget Newport is located just off the M4 junction 26, 5 minutes’ drive to the centre of Newport.

Everyone was friendly and very helpful. They immediately got the paw of approval from our doggy, Susie Lurcher. If we needed help, coffee or anything, we just needed to say the word.
Definitely not 3 first class snobbish upmarket overpriced chicken coop, but a decent hotel, at a good price staffed by locals who went out of their way to go 'the extra mile'

Absolutely fabulous place to stay, rooms are lovely and food excellent

Firstly, the staff were probably the most pleasant and wlelcoming I have seen in a hotel for a long time. Every member always acknowledged you be it reception, bar or house keeping they really great. breakfast was good, and again the staff in the restaurant were so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble.
This historic country inn has delicious food and luxury rooms. It is within a few km of the famous Celtic Manor Resort, home of the 2010 Ryder Cup. The Old Barn Inn dates back to the early 1750s.
