Hosts were lovely and attentive. Room was conformable, spacious and had loads of handy things for getting ready that my fiancé appreciated. Walks and cycle rides in every direction (roads not too frightening); both sides of Mallerstang worth walking as well as the valley (Garsdale rail station at far end); near Pennine Bridleway, on C2C I think; historic with the viaducts, Settle and Carlisle Railway

Didn't really stay long enough to explore Kirkby Stephen,...

Didn't really stay long enough to explore Kirkby Stephen, just two days to do two hill walks, but it seems to have a lot of potential for me to return and explore its history etc. Disappointed that information at bus stop was poor - one timetable was too high to see, and the route of another service wasn't obvious to the visitor. Also, some public footpaths in the surrounding countryside were very difficult to follow because of poor signage - some is very old and confusing.

Kirkby Stephen is a great location to base a walking holiday, being surrounded by moors and valleys to explore. There's also a preserved railway to visit too. There's also a wide selection of of cafes, restaurants and pubs serving good quality food with friendly service.

Nice room (with a fan) and view over market sq. The lady who checked us in I think her name was Jules deserves a pay rise…she has all the customer service skills required to encourage return visit. The young lady at breakfast was also nice.I would recommend the Pennine hotel and would rebook.
