It is a pretty little village that we used as a base for touring and it is very convenient for the ferry on Strangford Lough being only 15 minutes from Portaferry. It is 15 minutes from Newtownards and 35 from Belfast.
The village has a lovely park with a playground and a lake and very pretty scenery on the drive in from the Newtownards side.
This is not the place for a foodie to stay as there is only one restaurant and it only is open in the evenings at the weekend. We decided one evening to have a takeaway as we didn't want to go back out that evening and the chinese was closed over an hour before the closing time on the menu and we got some food from the chicken place and it was not cooked properly.
