Has to be the beach and other surrounding beaches.
Has to be the beach and other surrounding beaches. We stayed in a heat wave which was fantastic. I know Irvine as I grew up there and was back visiting family. Some lovely restaurants and bars. Lots of different dog walking areas and a lot of dog friendly beaches. Visited Troon, Largs (Viking festival was on) Ayr (Ayr Show was on) and various other locations of interest.

Lovely historic town, home of the Scottish Maritime Museum.
Lovely historic town, home of the Scottish Maritime Museum. We stayed at Harbourside which was very quiet. Very friendly place, we ate at the Ship Inn, they were fantastic hosts, beautiful food and dog friendly. They even gave us some milk for our morning coffee because we couldn’t find a shop open and it was getting late. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to explore the area much, we had to move on
I only booked because I was desperate and stayed elsewhere when I got the chance. I found interactions with payman were Intrusive. I was given no option but pay upfront, nonrefundable. In future if no other accommodations are available I will stay home. There are excellent places to stay in the area so I am surprised anybody wants to stay at Irvine Riverside Guest House. I have stayed there before and did not enjoy my stay!
The hotel was in a good location, just short drive to Irvine shopping centre. The room was small but cosy, comfortable and clean. Staff were friendly. Private bathroom was good and plenty of hot water. Access to the hotel and room was non contact and easy. This location was a stopover to break our trip from the Lake District to Scotland. It was quite adequate and relaxing. Good value for money.
We have stayed here in this accommodation before as it is just what we want. Convenient when meeting up with friends and family the pubs are excellent too which is very handy. The Chinese takeaway, Wong Chiu, Ayr Road, Irvine is very good too.
The shopping centre is clean and tidy. The beach is handy and the people are extremely friendly in the area
Great wee guest house on the Harbourside in Irvine. Very clean, en-suite facilities. Comfortable bed. Very handy to have microwave and fridge there. Nice restaurants such as Niche, and Duncan's Brasserie next door. Walking distance to the beach, town and train station and easy parking out front.
Would definitely book again when back in the area.
Fantastic stay at this hotel. We stayed for 2 nights in order to attend a wedding at a nearby venue. The room was spotless could not fault it. Breakfast was included and again couldn’t fault it. Staff were very friendly and the owner went over and above to accommodate any request. Highly recommend if you are on the area.
The room was very clean and very nicely decorated. The bed was super comfy and the shower was the best shower we have had in a hotel. Also good tea & coffee making facilities and an iron & ironing board. Would definitely stay again if in the area.
The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful.
The hotel and spa were stunning and my wife had a spa treatment and would highly recommend it.
We also eat in the restaurant and the food was good.
No complaints at all from our stay.
Lovely apartment in the centre of Irvine, everything we needed was close by. Ideal base for exploring the area, the beautiful beach, the Isle of Arran and the train station (for day trips to Glasgow) was just a short walk away.
The hotel was a pleasant surprise, self serve was easy and efficient. The room was cozy and just right for a one night stay on our journey! We got parking right in front and the gelato shop next door was an added bonus!
Very friendly staff, dog friendly hotel <3, very clean, refurbished bedroom. We booked the hotel on the same day and the price was very competitive. Very happy and positively surprised with overall experience
The interior design was very modern, and the bathroom was fantastic - usually water pressure in small hotels are not up to the standard. Bonus point for providing chocolate biscuit too!
We work in the area every 6 months and always book this hotel. It's ideal for us as we can get in from work, get something to eat/drink, and a good night's sleep.
The place and location of the hotel with nice natural view. If you come to Glasgow, this place is good to stay as Irvine is well connected to Glasgow by train.
Friendly atmosphere created by the wonderful staff, excellent food, clean rooms and facilities. Another positive experience staying at the Gailes Hotel.
