Great location just under Penshaw Monument, in the middle of the countryside. Very good facilities in the property and very well laid out. Owner even set up a Xmas tree and lights for our stay - a lovely touch. We also made use of the cafe next door - they make an excellent cooked breakfast in the morning.

Very central for Durham City and surrounding areas.
Very central for Durham City and surrounding areas. Large free car park which was easy to manouvere. Hotel was lovely, rooms were large and well stocked with toileteries, hairdryer, iron on request which was brought swiftly to our room. The adjoining bar was well stocked with lots of different beers/lagers, wines etc. Food was available in either the bar or the Thai Resturant. Staff are very friendly very helpful, nothing was any trouble to them. Would not hesitate to return.

Set by the side of a busy country road in beautiful countryside close to the A1(M). Fabulous beer garden, plenty of parking and large restaurant.
We stayed in a beautifully appointed room but unfortunately this was at the front of the hotel and the traffic was busy. To be fair, if we hadn't needed the window open so wide due to the warm evening then this would not have been a problem to us.

Now 53, I lived in Houghton le Spring for the first 22 years of my life, with many family and friends still living there. I can honestly say there is nothing for anyone in Houghton unless you are visiting friends or family. It's difficult to sum up a place in a few words, but with the single ATM in the town centre not working when we were there, most food outlets having a hand-scribbled note on the windows reading "Cash Only", and all closed shops on a night feeling the need to have steel shutters, sums it up for me. There are still lots of lovely people living in the town, but I really couldn't recommend it to anyone that doesn't NEED to visit!

A really great hotel, the staff are very welcoming! It has a lovely bar if you'd like to wind down for a bit. Our room was immaculately clean and tastefully decorated. It was perfectly situated for our needs. I have to say that staff went above and beyond for us, they even used their own transport to take us to our venue! 5⭐️
Rooms are spacious and immaculately clean, staff are really friendly. Lovely hotel and we will definitely satay again. Amazing value for money, I even mentioned to the reception they are undercharging lol. Breakfast was excellent value and we even had room service from the Thai restaurant which was brilliant! 5star all the way
What a great find this was, we needed a hotel for an event at Rainton Arena and this was perfect, modern, clean, great bar, comfy bed and delicious food, the icing on the cake are the staff, really friendly & couldn't be more helpful. We loved it so much we've even mentioned going back just for a night away!! :-)
This is a very good hotel and superb value for money, way, way better than other travel chain type hotels that would be considered as there competitors. Very good Thai restaurant too which was a very pleasant surprise and delicious.
Staff where fabulous. Charlie on reception, was very helpful. I had a problem with my booking, I thought I had booked direct with the hotel. Not through booking.com. So I had to pay a bit more than I excpected.
