The accessible room was on ground floor. Heating worked.
In the heart of Gloucester, the 15th-century New Inn features a medieval courtyard, real ale pub and free Wi-Fi. There is also a traditional restaurant with period features.

The Inn is very pretty ,with quirky parts to it, The room and bathroom were clean but not as decorated as the pictures, The lady grey room we stayed in did not have the panels and curtains on the four poster bed so it looked a little bit neglected. The floors were very uneven but I thought that was fitting for the experience. The breakfast was very nice and the bar and restaurant were pleasant to drink and eat in.

Great breakfast with gluten free options!
Pool and spa were lovely. But could be bigger for the amount of rooms!
Bed comfy. Could tether Netflix to the huge TV!

We liked the old town which was very pretty but not pretentious. A bit run down in places but lots of new developments too, eg the Gloucester Docks. Lots of independent pubs and restaurants, not overpriced. Friendly people. Lots of history. Everything really close to centre and quiet for a city (except for the seagulls)!

Beautiful cathedral which is what we came to see.
Beautiful cathedral which is what we came to see. Good transport links to other towns - Worcester and Tewkesbury. Docks area is attractive with restaurants, bars etc. and the area around the cathedral has some nice shops, tea rooms etc.

It’s very easy to reach Gloucester from the hotel especially if you like shopping at the Gloucester Quays. Found it very handy to get to Stroud and Painswick as well and the M5 motorway.
I personally wouldn’t use the bistro pub for meals at the Gloucester quays- the high orchard. Microwave meals with the wrong prices still in the menus and bar staff manager who couldn’t give a toss.
Cheltenham is nice to eat in if you fancy a day out and lots of dog friendly places too.

We wanted lots of choice of food and night time entertainment . Although the food we had was good in the main it was the usual branded restaurants. Night time bar entertainment very limited. Not very much high octane adventure to be had here. Won’t be rushing back

Yes gloucester is a nice area.
Yes gloucester is a nice area. But I would avoid staying at the new Inn, the management isn't fit for purpose. I've bren in other places with better management and more customer awareness. Management highly sensitive, room needs refurbishment. Just remember if you do stay there avoid saying something management doesn't like at the new inn, or you end up with a wooden bed, no shower or mattress. They get your money and you get free accommodation from his majesties police force. Don't waste your money, there is better accommodation in the area. Otherwise the area has great views, canal walks, and walks in general. And other stuff going on for it. It's a gorgeous place

Interesting city.
Interesting city. Walks available, along canal, and nature reserve. Cathedral, old buildings, museums ETC to visit. Docks area great for drinking & dining. Small enough to reach everything on foot.
First of all, a big thank you to Dee, the property manager, who was really helpful, immediately responsive and very accommodating to our requests - she made an enormous difference to our stay.
The apartment was better than we had imagined - spacious, very clean, well-equipped and ideally located for Gloucester city centre, just a few minutes walk from the Quays and Docks and the local park.
If we go back to Gloucester, this will definitely be our first choice of places to stay and, hopefully, Dee will still be managing it!.
Location was very central and easy to walk to from Gloucester Train station. We could easily find shops, restaurants and attractions nearby such as the cathedral, the docks and some of the meadows. There is also a pub within the establishment and breakfast was good considering it was without a menu and we could personalise it by ordering what we wanted (hash, sausages, full English etc). We could also store our luggages at the hotel easily to go visit elsewhere before making our train station.
Room 23 - felt newly decorated. Not excessively big - but large wall mounted TV, microwave, fridge, crockery and utensils - a bonus as we were not expecting. Excellent location - a short walk to the quay, plenty of pubs and restaurants close by. A Tesco extra very close for anything you may have forgotten / needed. Have been to Gloucester on a number of occasions, but first time staying in the New Country Hotel - defiantly would book again.
I was so glad to have chosen The Thatch Inn as our base for exploring the Cotswolds. It's only 3 miles from Gloucester with frequent bus connection (Number 12) to the city centre. The bus-stop is right opposite the hotel. I was most impressed with the hospitality of the staff and their team spirit which made for a warm atmosphere. If a hotel is judged by its customer service and customer’s satisfaction, The Thatch Inn ought to be a 5* hotel!
I love this place. It is literally my favourite place to stay in the UK. I travel to Gloucestershire regularly for business and have stayed in many hotels in the area. This one is the best by far. The staff are wonderful, the spa is amazing, the rooms are very comfortable, the food in the restaurant is incredible and they even have electric car charging! It's honestly the perfect hotel for me!
Original booking was for The Central Hotel but got moved to The County Hotel about 3 weeks before our trip due to the other hotel being taken over for a corporate booking. We were promised rooms of a better standard and size.Wasn't our 1st choice and wouldn't choose to stay again. The location for shops, bars and the quays is good from the County Hotel. Microwave and fridge in room was handy.
The Ibis Hotel contacted me about 2 weeks before I was due to travel to say the Hotel was closed till later in the year due to a project being carried out and they had rebooked me into the Holiday Inn just up the road from them all terms and conditions the same. So this Rating In NOT for the Ibis and any questions I could/have answered relate to the Holiday Inn Cheltenham/Gloucester.
The staff were superb! All so kind and very professional, the rooms were spotless. Originally we we only planned to stay one night however we completely fell in love with the place and had to stay one more night! The health suit was very clean it was a joy to use. Overall the hotel is amazing and I would really recommend that you stay at this hotel if visiting Gloucester.
The hotel was lovely. A little disappointed that a full English breakfast was not included in our stay though, this was changed at £5 extra per person per day.
The spa facilities were nice and we had a lovely time.
The hotel was situated near to Gloucester and Cheltenham and we had a nice time exploring both cities.
The reception staff were lovely and very helpful.
I arrived barely able to walk due to a strained muscle and the hotelkeepers went the extra mile to make me comfortable . I was given a big room on the ground floor, could sit out in the garden, and Karen even did some shopping for me so I could make use of the fridge and microwave in my room. Very clean; good breakfasts.
The room was as expected with sloped floors denoting the age of the property. The location was perfect, our friends had chosen to celebrate in a private room in the same hotel/pub. We then explored Gloucester the next day from this very central location. Breakfast in the hotel was an absolute treat.
The owner was very friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to ensure our stay was pleasant, and provided everything we needed (& more!) Hotel is perfectly located to explore Gloucester and next to the Docks and restaurants. Very comfortable beds also. We’ll definitely be back!
Good location - near town and station but quiet. The hotel owner was friendly and knowledgeable; he gave us useful tips to enhance our stay in Gloucester. Ideal location to catch the frequent bus to Cheltenham from practically outside the front door.
room: very tidy, well equiped, clean, quiet, etc.
location: in the middle of Gloucester, 10 min walk to the railway and/or bus station, restaurants and shops very near
staff: very friendly
Beautiful location, the room and the restaurant have an amazing view of the scenery.
The hotel itself has a great location, there is parking available and the staff were great.
Beds, linen and towels all new, and a good smart tv that connected to on-demand services (when the wifi worked). Hotel felt secure and room (at far end of building) was quiet.
