We stayed for 3 nights bed and breakfast and evening meal from arrival to departure the staff were absolutely amazing so hard working and friendly. A young girl called paige stood out her energy, she was so warm and friendly and couldn't do enough for everyone that she spoke to. Definitely be back excellent value for money.

Ample free parking just a short distance away; parking nearer for half a dozen cars but you have to be lucky to get a space!
Very friendly and helpful staff.
A lively but small bar (discounts on the beer for CAMRA members!) which is dog friendly and with a good bar food menu.
Very good restaurant food - well priced, interesting selection, and very generous sized servings.
Within very easy reach of Elterwater and a well made path, or you can be adventurous and explore further afield.
This was our second visit; unfortunately my wife isn't as mobile as she used to be, so the stairs to the rooms and ladies toilets are a bit of a challenge.

Very pleasant but there was some building work going on nearby. The roads near there are narrow, so you must expect some hold ups. The pub itself is very busy and popular. It is easy to get to other beauty spots, but parking in some areas can be a little trying.
The pub allows dogs in their bedrooms, and although this did put me off a little, I have to admit that they were all well behaved and there was no evidence that a dog had been in our bedroom. Dogs are not allowed in the dining room.
It is essential to book the time you want to eat in the dining room.

IMO Langdale is the prettiest Valley in the Lake District, Particularly in Spring time. Has 3 or4 good walks, easy by general Lake District standards , many harder walks depending on your fitness. also a good bus service to Ambleside. Also two pubs in the village and another at Chapel Stile, only a 10 min walk away

I was originally disappointed with the Eltermere Inn, as there was a problem with the bill. after my return, I questioned this and was promptly reinbursed and generously compensated with a complementary meal for two, so I would highly recommend this hotel.

Elterwater is a lovely traditional village not far from Grasmere. The village has old and new places to eat, we especially enjoyed a meal in Lanty Slees (named after a local bootlegger)The greek owners are charming hosts and made the evening memorable, we are planning on visiting again very soon

I love Elterwater, I go to the Langdale timeshares every year.
Our family is growing and I wanted a bolt hole just for sleeping.
This cottage is not the answer.
The new owners were disinterested and said that they wouldn’t be continuing the letting.
However they had taken on guests for this year and should have been more welcoming.
My husband and I came for an overnight stay with our golden retriever. The room was very comfortable and clean. The setting was absolutely beautiful, a lovely coffee shop across the road selling cakes and ice cream with an outdoor seating area. A fabulous walk alongside the stream which brings you out at a lovely shop and Cafe, with amazing scenery along the way. We enjoyed a lovely evening meal at the Inn and a gorgeous breakfast. Sheep wondering around grazing on the lawn infront of the pub what more could you ask for? 😃
The location is fab, a really quiet place with a good bus link, on the river. If you're looking for a quick walk, it's just upstream of Skelwith Force on the Cumbrian Way. Elterwater has a big pub and a nice cafe. The Hostel was nice and clean and peaceful. The room was a good size with just 6 beds in it. Showering and cleaning facilities were great.
I really liked that if you have the evening meal or breakfast you sit together and this is a great chance to meet and chat with other people.
We came to enjoy the gorgeous Lake District and the Eltemere Inn was the perfect location to use as our base. What a charming village Elterwater is! And one day we returned to our room to find four peacocks just hangin' around by the steps to our room, located in a building adjoining the main lodge.
Breakfast was exceptional and liked out on beautiful views.
Staff were so kind and helpful, but knew when to give guests space.
Very high standard of comfort and Interior design. Loved the public spaces and tasteful pieces throughout. Quality of food outstanding.
Fabulous views and really well located for hiking Wainwright hills. Elterwater is a lovely small village with a good pub and another good one nearby. A shop in nearby Chapel Stile has a good selection but a bit pricey so stock up before you go if you can.
There was a good selection of various foods for breakfast and the quality of food at dinner was very good. Our room was comfortable but on the small side and would have preferred to be in the main hotel building.
The room was spotless and the en suite was lovely. The breakfast choice was good and the staff were helpful and friendly.
The location was perfect, we had a wonderful couple of days in Elterwater.
The locatation for walking was perfect, we were able to walk to little langdale and into Skelwith Bridge.
The shared area downstairs was fanatstic and so homely.
The bedrooms were cosy and warm.
Location, general feel of the hotel was good, grounds nicely maintained. The staff were very welcoming. Visit from peacocks was an added bonus. We enjoyed the breakfasts very much
The hotel was pure class. The surroundings, the bedrooms, the food and the staff were superb. Highly recommend and will definitely return. The beautiful weather certainly helped.
Great location around Elterwater with good views to surrounding landscape. The room was spacious, very clean, bathroom was good with underfloor heating too.
