Didn't do much in Dingwall, used the hotel as a base, the main street very run down,if you don't mind driving beautiful scenery everywhere, especially in a trip to Ullapool,it was a very cold and frosty day, stunning,we ate lunch out wherever we went, and ate in the hotel at night,no complaints all round.

Dingwall is a very pleasant wee town in a beautiful part of the country and we found the locals to be very welcoming. It's on the rail route north from Inverness so is easy to get to if you don't want to drive. There a good selection of eating places and Inverness is only 12 miles away if you want a bit more to do.

Quaint little town in the southern highlands, just north of Inverness and away from the stresses of the city traffic… Dingwall provides the best of both worlds, with plenty to do in the local area, easy access to the surrounding areas and peaceful country vibes.

Dingwall is a lovely town, plenty of shops, eating places and pubs. It is a great base for visiting other locations, the train & buses are regular. We have visited a few times now and we will be back again
The bothy was at an excellent location, close to Dingwall and Inverness but far enough to enjoy the remoteness of Scotland. It was a very comfortable house with everything I needed and since I had quite some tough hikes before this stay it was great to have the luxury if this bothy. I spent 3 days here, one with a nice 7 mile walk around the bothy, the second day was spent in Inverness and the third day I had to drive for 1 hour to climb the An Teallach ridge. So much to do and everything close by.. loved it!
From when we first arrived and Gillian met us at our car with her two friendly dogs to help us with our bags to when she served us a delicious and hearty Scottish breakfast the following morning we could tell Gillian went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our stay in her guest house in Dingwall. The room was spacious, clean and comfy as well. The location was great - we walked to dinner and checked out the small but charming town of Dingwall. We are glad we stayed at Garfield Guesthouse.
The hotel was exceptionally clean and the staff was amazing, very helpful and friendly. The hotel is in a perfect location for someone who is travelling all the way up to the highlands. There restaurant has a nice selection of sea food and local beers with their bar also having a huge selection of scotch whiskeys.
Pretty much everything. It was so obvious that Gill does this as a labour of love. One of the best holiday stays I have ever had. Cannot be faulted. We were looking for a place in Inverness and only stayed in Dingwall because Inverness was booked out. Very glad it was in the end. Just be mindful of The Mallard !
Everything unfortunately I couldn't stay as the only room they had left was on the top floor I am disabled so it wasn't practical. But what a beautiful hotel and the poor staff couldn't have been anymore helpful and apologetic about my situation. However I found somewhere to stay that night.
Great attitude of the hosts, everything was perfectly prepared and clean, comfortable beds. Fridge, microwave, coffee and tea free of charge, chilled Belgian beer for a little cash. The breakfast was awesome. If you are traveling trough Dingwall this is great place for a rest.
It's cheap! And was available for us last minute when we needed to stay near Inverness for the night. The location is great. Lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance and not a far drive from Inverness. Breakfast was continental, but good!
Hotel was not the one we booked. We booked the Waverley hotel, however the owner was renovating the George hotel. We had to walk to the George hotel at end of the street. Rooms were OK, shower very poor and only continental breakfast. Poor value.
Great flat near the centre of Dingwall - but nice and quiet. Friendly host, well-equipped kitchen, good sized rooms, all mod cons, everything spotlessly clean. Heating easy to control. Handy location for the station and buses.
The guest house was a short walk from the Dingwall station and wonderfully cozy with a stellar breakfast. Scott and staff were lovely and welcoming. I would absolutely recommend.
Every thing was great about this hotel. The owner has renovated but retained the historical sense of the hotel. The locals are warm and friendly and it is a perfect setting
I travelled to Dingwall with my dog for a few days' break. My room at the National was sparkling clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I hope to come back.
Alison was a gracious host. She was helpful and kind. The house was immaculate and the breakfast was wonderful. I will recommend this B & B to anyone staying in Dingwall
Great location in Dingwall. Super close to amazing butcher, fruit and vegetable grocer and bakery so was really was a pleasure to stay there with the family.
Host was very accommodating and quick to respond to questions via email. Room was spotless and well equipped. Will definitely use again when up in Dingwall
