Stayed here many times and the experience has been varied over the years - on this occasion we were pleasantly surprised to find that the refurb that has been carried out has been quite comprehensive, which was great as we have encountered all sorts of problems with plumbing etc in the past. The family room we had booked was spacious, clean and fresh, seconary double glazing makes it a bit of a faff to get the windows open for some fresh air but on the upside it does keep out the road noise. Good value on booking.com, actually better than their own website, which is not always the case, nowhere else to eat/drink in the vicinity but the bar and restaurant are OK and there's plenty of nice outdoor space if the weather is amenable. Staff are always very friendly and on this occasion more on top of the job and less stressed than they have sometimes been in the past. There was a time when it was getting bad and we were debating whether to find another hotel for our regular visits to the area, but based on this experience we'd happily return.

It was just a lovely stay , you need a car to travel about and explore beautiful towns near to congleton . I enjoyed holmes chapel which wasn’t far. The food in the Swettenham arms was very nice . Also the. Red lion too if you want basic meals. I’m sure there are lovely walks but didn’t get that far as it was much too cold went I went . Never thought to visit the area, but I am glad that I did, its life at a slower pace and a chance to get back to nature, each village has its own unique character and charm. Every pub seemed to serve really great food and people actually smiled and were pleasant and chatty. In truth I did not see much of Congleton as a town as I was there for a walking trip but it is equipped with bus and train links to local and national locations. It is an extremely scenic area surrounded by hill, canals, rivers and small villages with great places to eat and drink.GARYUnited Kingdom

The location is in a very rural spot with beautiful views of green fields and mountains, but the town of Congleton is only a short 5-10 minutes drive away with shops, restaurants and pubs galore.
