We've visited the last 40 odd years....a lovely seaside town with the added bonus of spectacular scenery. The Mawddach Estuary and Bridge make it for us but equally when the kids were young there was the beautiful beach and places to go crabbing. We used to cycle along the old Mawddach railway track with them in their seats on the back. Wonderful walks, lots to do and explore.

Barmouth is a lovely seaside town in Wales.
Barmouth is a lovely seaside town in Wales. It is not overcrowded with activities which means it has kept some of its charm but there is plenty to do. There is a nice beach, a small funfair, a couple of amusements, donkey rides and plenty of lovely places to eat. The harbour is worth a visit and a lot of people enjoy fishing for crabs off the pier. We took a beautiful ferry ride one morning over to Fairbourne and caught a small steam train along the peninsula taking in the sprawling estuary on which Barmouth sits and it is sandwiched between the Snowdonia mountain range. A beautiful view of sea and mountains.

I booked here not knowing what to expect, but thinking it could be some sleepy little fishing town with not much on. But its proximity to the mountains - we came to walk Cader Idris - coupled with the fact that there was a beach was appealing to us.
When we arrived we found a clean, well-maintained town with plenty of options for food and drink, a decent selection of shops - which were thankfully not all tat-filled giftshops, a lovely beach with arcades and a small selection of rides for children.
If you are looking for somewhere to stay that isn't too heaving so that you can relax, unwind in nature, visit the beach, or take in some of the walks, I would recommend a visit.

Beach is beautiful and lots to do with the high street, fun fair and arcade. Lots of places to eat and drink and plenty of places to sit down and enjoy the views. I think no more than a couple of days is about the right amount of time to explore. Plenty of places to park and train station is right in the heart of Barmouth.

Barmouth is a really pretty little town, lovely little beach...
Barmouth is a really pretty little town, lovely little beach & sand dunes to walk in. We visited in January so it was nice & quiet, although nice to see plenty of people walking their dogs. We wanted to eat in The Last Inn but they were fully booked, recommend to book in advance. Enjoyed a nice meal in The Barmouth Bar & Grill.
We were made to feel welcome from the second that we set foot into Bluebells Guest House by Bryn and his wife.
The guest house is located just a short walk from the town of Barmouth (probably about 5 minutes) but is right on the seafront.
The room was comfortable and quiet with a TV plus tea and coffee making facilities.
Breakfast was excellent, we had the full English both mornings but there were other choices of hot food, plus cereal and fruit.
We had an excellent stay at Bluebells Guest House and will definitely be back!
The Tilman is a lovely place to stay, perfectly located in the heart of Barmouth. The staff were exceptional - extremely friendly, generous and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and they looked after us so well during our stay. Huge thanks to Nadine, Nicola and Oonagh! It is, as they say, the people that make all the difference. Our room was very spacious and had everything you could want - including a view of the estuary! We couldn't have asked for anything more. The hotel parking facility is also very helpful.
The location was spot on, right on the coast. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was decent and you order what you want when you check in which was helpful, and you can change your order daily if you wanted to. Parking was easy to find, they have a small car park behind the hotel but there are parking spaces around the streets nearby. The room was decent with a good shower. There's a lift in the hotel which was very useful being 34 weeks pregnant.
We had the room on the top floor with a sea view. It was up a lot of stairs but was worth it for the incredible view out over the bay, albeit through a relatively small window in this room.
Location is excellent - just far enough out of the town not to be disturbed by the noise, but close enough to walk to the pubs/restaurants in 5 to 10 minutes.
Fridge in the room was a nice bonus.
A lovely B&B right next to Barmouth estuary. There are plenty of beautiful and interesting places to go to. The room was very stylish and clean and the breakfasts were nice. The owners, Marie and Kevin, went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and comfortable and the price was reasonable, too. I was very happy to stay at Lawrenny Lodge and I am definitely coming back
The hotel is ideally placed, just a short walk takes you into Barmouth for the shops & restaurants. The owners are fantastic - so friendly & welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are large, clean and very comfortable, the bathroom is spacious and the shower hot. A great place to stay.
Great place to stay, wonderful hosts who cant do enough for you, great approach despite the corona virus issues, wonderful breakfasts! Just far enough out of the very middle of Barmouth to be quiet but close enough for an easy walk for food and fun and directly opposite the beach!
The Hotel is stunning it has an interesting history.
The views were breathtaking.
It’s a perfect place to stay and visit all the other nearby places like Harlech Castle, Port Merion to name just a few.
The food amazing,
Mike was a wonderful host.
will definitely go back 👍

Barmouth Beach Club was a lovely place to stay, all the staff were very friendly and helpful, the accommodation was lovely and also very close to the beach.
