Sausset is on the Western side of Marseille, this is more modern and less visually appealing than the older La Ciotat and Cassis. The train only takes 45 mins to Marseille and passes the much more attractive small harbour villages of Niolon and La Redonne on the same western side. We spent 3 days in both Sausset and La Ciotat and am likely only to return to La Ciotat, where we did not have a pool but the beaches were a bit better as was the food and atmosphere.

Sausset is a fairly small place, accessible by train from Marseille, attractively situated around a harbour - still a working fishing port, with a marina and nearby beaches. There's a hotel in a good sea-view location and a selection of bars, cafes and restaurants that seem to cater mainly for local people - who generally seem very friendly - and day visitors. Various small shops offer plenty of choice for picnic food. There's entertainment on some evenings in one or two bars, and there's a purpose-built arts venue, but it's basically the kind of place for a quiet relaxing break. There are pleasant coastal walks, and you can use local trains or buses for trips to nearby places such as Carry-le-Rouet (which is more commercialised), La Couronne and Martigues.

A lovely small town, the locals are very welcoming!
Perfect distance from Marseille, you may have to walk a little to find beaches for swimming, but the rocks are perfect for sunbathing !! L’Ocean is a wonderful restaurant to eat at and the staff are kind.

The location was superb. Across the road from the sea & several good restaurants & bars. The huge bed was extremely comfortable. The receptionist who checked us in yesterday was very friendly, efficient & professional. Evening meal is restaurant was good with efficient service. The 10 euros breakfast this morning was exceptionally good & extremely good value. There was ample free parking at the hotel.
Fantastic location with view to the sea and the harbour. Walking distance to great restaurants and cafes. Walks along the sea shore from the hotel. The room and the bathroom are at the small end of the scale, but everything is clean and the bed is comfortable.
Visited in last week of May. We found the property very Picturesque. Comfortable rooms and very clean spacious washrooms.
Hotel is in a hilly area and reminds you of those Hollywood movies where they have a Cabin in the woods
Overall nice comfortable stay
This is a great local hotel. Beautiful setting, the view is outstanding. Nice pool. Great location. Staff really on their game! We really liked the town, including restaurants. This is a business hotel, but a real surprise for leisure guests.
The hotel was well-located, the staff were friendly, the pool was lovely, we had a view of the pool and the sea, the room was small, but it had a balcony which was appreciated. They made very good mojitos.
Hotel was overall great, friendly and helpfull stafff, the hotel has a free parking space, location is close to the city centre and the beaches. Recommendable are the diners at the hotel restaurant.
private parking on the hotel property was nice considering getting a spot in town near the beaches and restaurants is almost impossible, airconditioning was great too.
Beautiful sea view at the restaurant and lobby bar, hotel is new and cosy , great bar and friendly staff, clean and cosy room. Great value for the price, thanks!
Everything was great, location of the hotel, 5 minutes walk to the beach, shops, restaurants, lovely hotel, clean, sea view room, good breakfast, friendly staff
