We were two tired and hungry pilgrims on the Via Francigena who arrived without food due to another French public holiday in May and a lack of shops in the area. We also had difficulty finding accommodation and Bouconville-Vauclair is not on the designated route. The hostess, Magali, was simply outstanding. She offered to prepare us an evening meal – which was magnificent, and this was followed with a superb breakfast the next morning. The accommodation can more correctly described as a newly constructed self-contained unit with all amenities you require. Magali turned our brief stay into one of the highlights of our entire walk. It is a perfect place to play in the near by golf.
It is a perfect place to play in the near by golf. The lake is beautiful and it worth the chance for a relaxing stay. The property is welcoming and positive. However it could enjoy a better maintenance.

This hotel has improved all round this year.
This hotel has improved all round this year. The food in the restaurant was very good with a wide choice of wines. Nice location but is definitely a sightseeing hotel, little to do unless you enjoy golf or swimming.

The hotel is in a beautiful location with every room overlooking the lake .
The hotel is now nearly 30 years old andcould do with updating , the bathroom being particularly bad .
The rooms have a kettle and a fridge , a plus point and the beds are comfortable
The restaurant is good with much outside seating bythe pool if required .However , the price of breakfast is ridiculous , 16 eurps per person , I think. THe bar prives are lso pretty steep.
However , the location more than makes up for the other shortfalls.
The room was large and had an amazing views of the lake (I think all rooms do). The bed was huge and very comfortable.
Although a small hotel, it feels very open and spacious. The restaurant is also very good and the service was excellent.
There is a Center Parks across the lake and of course the golf course nearby. This means the area is quite prepared for tourists and apart from the lake, there are lots of great walks and cycle trails to explore.
We loved the location of this hotel. We were travelling between Calais and the Alps; and waking up to a beautiful lake view here was such a pleasure. The room was great for a family of 4. Parking was very easy in their car park. Breakfast was good. Great places to sit outside and the children liked the playground and table football. Particular thanks to the lovely reception staff.
The room was spacious and we enjoyed a nice view of the lake. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant. Super friendly staff, good food but not at the top! Why not offer a simple, excellent foie gras instead of a botched cream? Good wine list. Panoramic room, comfortable, with well-spaced tables. More than positive overall experience and... do not miss the Cathedral in Laon.
We had a great room on the first floor overlooking the lake with a perfect view. Fantastic. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel and the food was better than expected. Breakfast was a buffet but included freshly cooked bacon, sausages, eggs and pancakes in addition to the standard continental breakfast that seems to be the only offering in a lot of French hotels.
The setting is beautiful and the hotel offers a variety of family activities with a swimming pool, table tennis, a swing, petanque, electric bicycles. Our room was spacious, clean bathroom with a nice powerful shower and had a cosy little balcony with lake view. The outdoor lounge area is very pleasant with a pergola giving onto the lake.
We enjoyed our one night stopover at this hotel. It was a pity that it was not summer as it has great views over a lake and an outdoor swimming pool. We had the 3 course menu in the restaurant which was good and reasonably priced. Clean, comfortable large bed and quiet location. Parking no problem.
The hotel was in a great location and views over the lake were good. The rooms were very spacious, modern and very clean.
Staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast offered was excellent
This hotel was beautiful, right on the lake with a lovely restaurant. We ate dinner on the terrace overlooking the lake. The room was large with a private balcony and lake view
The hotel is lovely. Friendly staff. Perfect location. Room was great and the view was superb. Would definitely stay again. Has a restaurant. The food was very nice.
