Small city, easy to walk around to get to places in the city, slippery in the winter, terrain is uphill and down hill sometimes but railings are everywhere. Really good restaurants like Aristova and Barbara.A lovely corner cafe and book store called Paname Supermarkets have nearly everything including GF breads.People are very friendly and help you if and when lost.Must visit the red houses!

It’s the town center of Faroe Islands.
It’s the town center of Faroe Islands. A charming town but not much to do. There are some good restaurants but the food was a bit on the pricy side, which is understandable considering they may be imported or flown from other places. Getting around the islands by car is fairly easy. It’s feasible to drive to the sightseeing spots on the map within a day, if no hiking is needed. Don’t miss the Mulafossur!

One of my favorite cities (and I've travelled a lot). It's the biggest city in the Faroe islands, yet the feeling is different compared to any city in other countries. Peacefull, well maintained beautiful city where you can find everything you need .
Lots of restaurants and bars around the harbour area, very easy to find orientate.

Lovely old town, cathedral with pretty garden and turf roves of parliament buildings. Can you find the ancient circle carved into the rock near the water.
Good Tourist Info with loo.
Lovely lunch in cafe set back from Main Street which also sold cheese.
Toasted sourdough sandwich……very nice.
Do visit National Art Gallery near cute wooded park with pond……if you can find it……best to ask!

Torshavn is a lovely place to visit, and the local people...
Torshavn is a lovely place to visit, and the local people are very friendly and helpful. It feels very safe overall, and there is enough of interest to sustain a 3/4 day stay. There are good restaurants (some expensive - depending on what you're used to) and there is good quality food on offer. Getting around is easy, with most of the Town being walkable - with the local "Red" busses being free to use. Exploring beyond Torshavn needs planning. Some bus routes offer a morning departure but can have a late return, with not enough interest for the casual traveller at the destination for more than a couple of hours. Be aware that Shops etc. close at 13:00/14:00 on Saturday, and on Sundays everything is closed (including the local busses, and some of the cafes and restaurants!)
The ferry to Nolsoy is cheap and only 30 minutes. However, if you are NOT hiking there is only 1 shop/cafe (closes Saturday at 13:00) and 1 other cafe (Maggie's was open, friendly and with basic food (chips/burgers/pizza) and worth a stop). For non-hikers there is only an hour/90 minutes of interest, but you may have a several hour wait for the return. Maybe in peak season it's better - I was there end April.
This hostel is perfekt if you want to keep it simple for a low price: good location, good WiFi, ckeck-in at the hotel reception. Beeing able to make your own food is essential on the Faroe Islands since the food offer is limited, unless you don't mind living on pizza and burgers. The kitchen has stove and oven, freezers and fridges - even if the fridges have a strange smell. Useful kitchen-ware, water boiler and coffe maker. The beds were narrow, but ok comfortable. Sheets and towels are included in the price.
Best deal in Torshavn, without a doubt. Very close to the harbour, with a fantastic wi-fi connection, ultra-clean, very private for relaxation after a long day of hiking, this was the best value for money for me. I stayed at apartment 8 for 6 nights, it was completely cleaned upon arrival, comfortable and fully equipped with a huge TV, heat that worked, hot water and a large bathroom. The instructions to get the key were clear and timely and all my requests and questions were answered promptly.
The hotel is about a 20-minute walk into the city center (but be prepared for an uphill walk back to the hotel). Parking was easy and readily available. We appreciated the option to order a packed lunch to go and loved the breakfast that was included with our room! Super comfortable bed. Staff was friendly and helpful, especially the front desk staff and bartender. Although we weren't often at the hotel at 5:00, the complimentary wine hour was a nice touch.
Marna Guest House is a lovely place with all you possibly need in order to stay in Faroe Islands. It has a very well equipped kitchen with large living room. There is even space with toys for children. There are two shared bathrooms and one separate toilet that are very clean and convenient to all guests. The room we got with a friend was tiny, however very cozy and with beautiful view to the sea.
Loved this hotel! It was a short walk from the centre of Torshavn and everything was sleek and modern. The rooms were quiet and comfortable (with good hot showers) and it was a nice surprise to have a sea view. The free parking was also a bonus. The buffet breakfast was fantastic - fresh and plentiful. It was a shame we had an early flight home so missed out on our last morning!
1.Location at the center area
2.Cheap hotel price.
3.Thai restaurant ,Thorshavn harbour and old village is very close to this hotel. But you should have to carry the luggage to your rooms at 2&3rd floor. Use only back pack or carry on is the best thing to do when you stay here.
Really nice and spacious apartment. Would almost define it as a house. Fantastic view of Tórshavn and Nólsoy from the kitchen and living room. It's even better than the pictures here on booking.com. We were able to park our car right in front of the house.
I had short stop in Torshavn so just went for cheapest room.
Was surprised at quality of room for what I chose. Staff were super friendly and looking at facilities wish I had more time there.
If lucky enough to visit again, will definitely stay here.
It was really nice and welcoming atmosphere at the minute you walked in to the hotel. The staff in the reception was really welcoming, nice and helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel for your next stay in Torshavn.
It is a large apartment, with all the amenities you need. Very well located and just a 10 min walk to the old part of Torshavn. It also had a parking space which was very convenient.
It's in the middle of the centre of Torshavn. You have everything from café s to shopping streets around it. Also the less expensive hotel in the area.
