Super cool place in the jungle. Very quiet. The houses have nets to keep the bugs out, but some bugs can get it. The staff got one big one out for use, very friendly. When the lights went out due to the power issues of the country, they had lights on battery and candles, very helpful.

We came to explore the jungle for a few days and this was the perfect relaxing place to be. The staff could not have been friendlier and breakfast was amazing! David is BEYOND amazing and was so helpful with everything we needed and made us feel so welcome!! Bungalows are super roomy as well and very clean and water was super hot in the shower! This place is a bit outside of town (about a 10 min car ride) so make sure to have a car or planned tours.

Lovely area overlooking the city. Near lots of good posadas with yummy homemade food. Immersive garden area near the breakfast patio. We were able to see lots of jungle creatures like frogs, geckos, and katydids and more in the gorgeous garden outdoor area!
Great breakfast, be sure to request the night before!
Mini fridge in room. The room had a gorgeous view! Powerful AC. The bathroom had the kind of shower head that heats the water as it passes through, so you always have hot water!

The Staff were really nice and helpful.
The location is just 10 in walk form terminales
Beautiful property off the main road. Only there for one night on our way down to Cuenca. Would have liked to stay longer and enjoy the pool area. Breakfast was phenomenal! Tim also gave us invaluable information regarding our planned drive down to Cuenca which almost certainly saved us from a much longer and potentially disastrous travel day.

Tena is a very peaceful place to spend short holidays or weekends. Although you cannot expect best of the facilities, this place is really good for escaping daily routine and relaxing.
Cavernas de jumandy, puerto mishualli and Laguna azul are some of the must visit places. Transportation facilities are limited and hence it is recommended to hire a car or take your own car.
The Route from Quito to Tena goes through dense forest and hence frequent rains and landslides can be expected. Better to enquire about the route before starting the travel.

Come to Tena for the surrounding area: world-class rivers for kayaking and rafting, plus some amazing indigenous cultures and beautiful nature reserves. Tena itself feels safe and friendly and has a certain charm, but its definitely not pretty like Quito or Cuenca. The setting of the town is pretty beutiful, especially if you can get up high (like you are at Hostal Pakay) and see the valley in the afternoon/evening- the sun setting over the Andes can be pretty stunning. Overall I mostly used it as a base for kayaking, and for that, it's pretty great.
No better place in Tena ! Marcia (the owner) is wonderful, so caring, funny and helpful. The hostel is close to shops, mercados and to the bus terminal, but very quiet at the same time. Very friendly vibes and the sweet dogs will make you stay there longer (after stealing your place on the hammock and your heart ;) haha kitchen, rooftop, clean space, comfortable beds, grill.. Amenities are all very good and the space is big. Many activities around Tena, beautiful waterfalls and swimming spots to visit. Muchísimas gracias Marcia 😊
It was a very comfortable studio with the amenities one needs. And situated by the river to hear all the birds and animals in the morning and evening. Also, David the host was incredibly knowledgeable about the area and Ecuadorian culture and eager to share this. Definitely appreciated all the local knowledge and suggestions and how incredibly helpful he was. Muchas gracias David for everything including the chontacuro experience! We very much enjoyed our stay in Tena!
I really liked the place, the bad was good and they have tiny and nice kitchen. When I needed help from the owner she gave me a lot of contacts of volunteering programs and agencies. When I didn't have a place to sleep when the hostel was full she even let me and my friend to stay in a private room for the same price.
Really good and simple place if you need to stay in Tena to find any activity in the jungle.
The grounds are excepcional!!!!
The rooms are small, as they should be to preserve nature. Beautiful nature lodge. Great pools, tennis courts. Wonderful for families, friends, couples, and events! The rooms are a considerable distance from parking but the staff is very helpful. The restaurant area is beautiful. This place is surrounded by wonderful nature. Thank you for the great memories in Tena.

Splendid place, amicable staff, the gardens are a delight, i had a room with a beautiful view of Tena! All areas are kept spotless. The place is quiet at night too, which makes for a good rest, and a great break especially if you've been traveling for a while! Great value! Intend on returning. Muchas gracias! 💚💐
The rooms were comfortable. Small, family, run hostel on the outskirts of Tena. It's a good option if you want to explore this area, but don't have the time to travel to some more remote locations. Options to book a tour through the hostel, although we ended up just taking a taxi and exploring ourselves.
The owner David was great (and speaks English). He gave me rides into town, helped me with tour agencies, gave me tips for good restaurants. The Inn itself is modern and rooms with air conditioning! Secure, hot water, clean, large kitchen. Strongest wifi I’ve had in Ecuador. Very good value for Tena.
Diego is awesome and passionate about the Amazon and river, everyone here is incredible. We went rafting with them and it was by far the best experience I've ever had (I can't count how many times I've been rafting). I wish we could stay longer!
The owners were very friendly and helpful.
They offered a very good breakfast. The room was spacy and the fan provided the necessary coolness.
Tena offers nice areas where you can enjoy nature. In the evening Tena turns into a town of lights.
Real luxury, and super clean design hotel 10 minutes drive from Tena. This was my best accomodation in Ecuador. The whole property is perfect until the last details. Staff is kind, breakfast is amazing, surrounding is a magic.
We really liked the wooden room and hammock area, great to relax at night. The hostel is not in the center of Tena, but that is actually a plus because it is a bit quieter and in a green area. Breakfast was good.
One of the best breakfasts we've had at a hotel, anywhere. The hosts and staff were all warm and very friendly. If you stay here, you MUST go out kayaking; Tim is a fantastic teacher and guide.
