‘The City of Three Rivers’
Known as the City of Three Rivers, Passau is a beautiful German town in Lower Bavaria crossed by the Danube, Ilz and Inn rivers. Situated near the Austrian border, this university city is home to the biggest cathedral organ in the world with 17,774 pipes and 233 registers.
Built in 1688 by the Italian architect Carlo Lurago, the Baroque St. Stephen's Cathedral has frescoes and paintings by JM Rottmayr. Featuring classic European architecture, the historic Old Town of Passau has small cobbled alleys with picturesque Bavarian cafes and restaurants, as well as a Neo-Gothic tower. You can enjoy a cruise on the Danube River or wonder around the medieval houses that are modified into galleries.
Set between the Danube and Ilz, the 13th-century Castle of Passau was the bishops’ residence for several centuries. Travellers can visit the fortress of Oberhaus and discover interesting museums with potteries, sculptures and paintings.

Passau is a beautiful town where the Donau River joins the other two rivers. It is also the starting point for many Donay cruises. Walking around the town, visiting the Castle, or just strolling around the river walks was an amazingly relaxing experience. We arrived and departed by train, and the station is 10 minutes walking from the city center. It was the place where our river cruise started and ended, and we chose to prolong our stay in town for two nights. We recommend dining early since most of the restaurants will close. For lunch everything is open, but finding a restaurant for dinner might be a struggle. I recommend the restaurant at StadHotel Passau, it is open from breakfast to dinner and they serve typical Bavarian food.

Amazing. Great. Unbelievable. Great evening/night life. Many restaurants outside in beautiful streets. Some streets are so tiny that it is scary to walk them but I loved it. The meeting of the rivers is beautiful. Also I recommend taking a boat trip to
Linz(5hrs).

Passau has an enviable location at the confluence of three rivers. Most of the public architecture is baroque or rococo. The old town has a good vibe, helped by the presence of tourists and students from the local university. It’s a great place to stroll, with several excursion possibilities.

I have always wanted to see Passau.
I have always wanted to see Passau. We stayed there for three days. I woudl reccomend to climb up Mariahilf for a beautiful view of the old town. It is a perfect place for taking photoes. We had excellent white sausages inthe pub just across the street. Thank to the location of Helen's flat, we had all the main sights within 30 minutes, apart from West Oberhaus and the Mariahilf, of course.
The hotel is amazing and set in really beautiful surroundings . We booked the hotel late in the day but Klaus is very friendly and was very accommodating with our late arrival. The room was absolutely stunning with everything we could wish for during our stay. Large bedroom with comfy bed, ensuite with toiletries and lots of hot water. Breakfast was good and buffet style. Would definitely stay here again and stay for longer to be able to explore the beautiful setting. Would recommend even though it is a bit remote but well worth it.
The hotel is located in the middle of the forest in a very beatiful environment. We had nice walks around in the evening and in the morning, too. Although the hotel informed us that there is "Ruhetag" rest day on Mondays and Tuesdays, meaning everything was closed, we were pleasantly surprized that we could have a warm dinner at the hotel restaurant on Tuesday evening. A close drive to Passau. We would like to go back and spend a few days in the surroundings.
Hotel was located in a perfect area to explore the sites of Passau. What a wonderful place to visit! Our room was very comfortable. Chocolate on the pillow was a nice touch. A set of ear plugs too - but we didn't need them. Perhaps in the summer when more people are travelling you might need them. Thoughtful of the Hotel to provide. Excellent breakfast each morning - especially the cafe lattes! Parking was right next to the Hotel. Perfect location!
This is a hotel with an excellent location in the city center. We stayed in the room 10 which is a 4 bedroom apartment with private EXTERNAL bathroom, that I somehow missed to read :) of course the blame is on me, but we were a bit surprised when we entered the room and it turned out that the bathroom is at the end of the corridor. Otherwise, the room was nice and beds were very comfortable.
So, the location is great if all you want to do in Passau is visiting the Veste Oberhaus, have breakfast in the hostel or at the Oberhaus restaurant. The hostel itself is out of this world, it is in a sort of medieval building style with very thick walls and deep set windows, beds were comfy and staff were friendly. Clean bathrooms and nice guests. .
We really liked the hotel, although we only stayed for a night. The room was unusally big and well equipped, with a nice Danube view. The bathroom is modern and clean. We liked the breakfast and nice choice of options. The garage is only a minute away. Definitely a great option for staying in Passau old town.
Good spacious room and ours had a large balcony which was really nice to sit out in the evening the location is a little out of town ( Passau) but that suited us because we were leaving our car for a week whilst cycling the R Danube. The hotel is 10 minutes to the cycle trail downhill ( longer on return !)
Everything was very perfect here! Room size is big enough and very clean, facilities are new, the staff at reception was friendly for some kind reminders, I really love the design of this hotel, also convenient enough because it’s so close to the train station, just 3 minutes by walking.
Second time at this accommodation. Nice basic hotel in a quite neighborhood. Rooms are basic but equipped with everything you need. Own parking garage under the hotel, and downtown Passau and the famous local brewery on walking distance. Perfect for a stop over or a couple of nights.
The apartment was clean, large and comfortable. Excellent location for visiting Passau. Excellent housekeeping service and accommodating staff. Comfortable space to relax with family and friends. Safe, covered on-site parking at an affordable price.
It's a small 6 room hotel, with attention to detail in the room, wine Nespresso etc. all included. Staff replied to emails almost instantly and were available to help at all times.
The location is really good and has a good connection to Passau station by Bus lines 3 & 4. Supermarkets like Rossmann and Edeka are next to the hotel and It is really helpful.
Very conveniently located and the entire hotel is very cute. Parking was available and we arrived late in the evening but were able to have a seamless check in.
