Staff was very friendly and helpful. We didn't speak the language well, but this was never an issue. Breakfast was a good variety of foods and plentiful.

Major attractions are the surroundings, mainly the so-called Dolomites and the Auberg.
And more generally the many walks around, as the Eifelsteig track from Aachen to Trier, passing in Gerolstein.
Few historical buildings in town : the Burg, the Museum, maybe some others.
That museum seems highly interesting but it was unfortunately closed when we were there, in low season.
Some restaurants, among which the "Costa Verde" where we had our nicest dinner in Germany.

Nice view at the rocks.
Nice view at the rocks. Not a very exciting city center but that is also not what we had expected. A typical small German town/village with the majority of big retail chains at the outskirts of the town. People were friendly, two restaurants we liked were Athen (Greek) and Balkan Grill (Croatian/German). Simple but well prepared grill/fish etc.
A tip is the public swimming lake “Gemündener Maar”. Not far away. You need to register due to Covid for one of two time slots 11.00-15.00 and 16.00 to ?? More info to be found on their web site. 5 euro per ticket but we thought that to be worth it.
Would not visit Gerolstein soon again, probably Daun is a bit better as location to stay. But all in all it is the company of your travels that defines the fun you have. Not the place, weather or much else!

We didn't stay in Gerolstein itself but in Müllenborn.
We didn't stay in Gerolstein itself but in Müllenborn. It was a beautiful area and a good starting point for visiting Daun, Gemündener Maar, and
Pelm. We enjoyed the Animal Park in Daun, which you drive through with your car, and the Adler and Wolfspark in Pelm. You do need a car to see the area or you need to be a competent cyclist as the area has some substantial hills!
The room was lovely. The bathroom facilities, both bath and shower were amazing. The lady who checked us in was lovely and the lady who served us our meal made every effort to make us feel comfortable. When we first entered the restaurant the stares from the restaurant staff were blatant and it made myself and my partner feel uncomfortable. Please refer to what I didn’t like about the property to fully understand why we felt as we did.
Nice hotel on the top of the hill. The kitchen is great, it's good to have dinner and breakfast there. As far as I saw, every room has a balcony, with a view to the other side of the hill. There is a quiet little village in the valley. The cleanliness was good.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The ambiente in the hotel is very motivating, with many photos and art work of local attractions displayed on the walls.
Buffet breakfast delicious.
We'll be back!
The room was big and clean with a good atmosphere. The wellness are was the highlight of the hotel with a nice view to the forest. Breakfast was also good with a rich amount of variety.
Great amenities, spacious apartment and kind host. Hidden away in a quiet neighborhood yet close to restaurants or shopping facilities. The area is amazing for hiking or cycling.
