The location was great, right on the boardwalk. Had dinner in the restaurant/bar and it was good. Breakfast wasn't included in our room which was fine as we were headed out somewhere else to eat. We appreciated our room being located near the elevator so it was quick and easy to take our pet outside to green space.
Offering an indoor pool and an on-site restaurant, this property is located 1 km from downtown Sydney, Nova Scotia. It features Wi-Fi access throughout.

Keycard failed 4 times in 24 hours. First time, reception checked my ID and reprogrammed it. In the morning after getting coffee in the hotel, the card didnt work again. Went to reception and was told it wasn't my room and they refused to do anything. I immediately showed my ID and reservation. The reception repeatedly ignored it and repeated it isn't my room. After around 10 minutes, suddenly, the reception reprogrammed the key. I went to work, on a Sunday morning, not knowing if my stuff was going to be tossed out or not. Not sure if they had double booked or what. I used my break to go back to the hotel to find out. The receptionist who checked me in was there. I tried to confirm that the room was still mine. She said it wasn't. I asked whose room it was, and she said it was my colleagues who had booked it. I showed the reservation and said: yes he booked it: in my name. I gave you my ID and used my credit card for the damage deposit and showed you my reservation. You even had reprogrammed it for me the night before. She said it hadn't happened and it wasn't my room.
So I asked to get it in writing, her saying it isn't my room. I will go find a hotel that does have a room for me, but I wanted to be able to get my money back. They refused to provide anything, yelled at me to leave. She demanded I leave or shewould "lose control". She then ran to the office and the slammed the door leaving me there. So, I left the hotel and went to another. They charged my company anyways.

Sydney will never be what it was back in the 50 and 60s., with the
Steel Plant, fishing and the closing of the coal mines in the area but
if you have lived here in the past you can still enjoy the scenery.

Dominion beach was the best beach out of the few i went to it was very long to accommodate many people, it had plenty of sand for the little ones, it was quite cold but not much worse than many other bodies of water.
Fortress of louisburg was pretty interesting just be sure to pack your own snacks and drinks as their food and drinks are extremely overpriced, it is chilly to start (on a 21C day) but gets quite warm once walking around and if you can avoid bringing a stroller it will be much easier to get around.
Two rivers wildlife park was a good spot to check out the animals, good luck seeing the moose but worth the trip, the canteen is reasonably priced with a good variety of fried foods to choose from which were very delicious.
Many of the tourist spots are pretty far away so we did not get to tour many places such as fundy bay to see the tides or the cabot trail or lunenberg because it is a lot of driving and we drove to cape breton from southern ontario.
Make sure to keep your plastic bottles because you pay deposits at the grocery stores!
It is a little bit more of an expensive place to travel to but the ocean views, sunsets and the amazing friendliness of the locals makes it worth it all in the end.

Cape Breton is a lovely place but a huge price-gouging tourist trap. Lots of places haven't recovered from COVID so many places were either closed or short-staffed. The weather is getting crazy too.
Booking.com was the biggest pain in the ass. In a number of situations, they were confusing, unhelpful, and useless. Far better to call the motel directly and avoid this European-owned and operated app.

Excellent place to visit, so much to do.
Excellent place to visit, so much to do. We ended up staying at North Sidney at the "Hotel North" Excellent location, very clean rooms, right at the Newfoundland Ferry launch. Excellent restaurant and close to plenty of amenities.
It is centrally located and easy to find. Our room was very clean and quiet but not overly spacious The bed was very comfortable . The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. An adequate hot breakfast was available at a reduced price for hotel guests but this was not mentioned when we checked in although there was a small sign which I noticed by chance.
We have stayed here several times and are always satisfied with our visit.
we stayed at this hotel on our way to Cabet Trail.
The location was good and the staff were friendly.
For guests who stay at the Inn, you can purchase 3
different breakfast items for $7.99. I recommend
the omelette. The lady who served us was super
friendly and did a great job, even though she was
looking after all the tables at the restaurant.
the Hotel and the stay was wonderful. Booking.com however misrepresented price and after i commited to a price in canadian $$ i was sent a confirmation amounting to over $25 more. This was a gross misrepresentation so be very very careful. The Hotel i will definitely use again. The stay was great
The hotel and facilities which I used were generally quite acceptable for the price paid. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The complimentary hot and cold breakfast buffet was varied and filling. Free parking was ample and directly in front of the hotel.
They had trouble with the water system and had to close the hotel but the staff was very accommodating. The hotel is clean and the rooms are good.
The hotel sits with a oceanview and good parking in the front.
I will go there again forsure.
Everything was wonderful, very clean and comfortable Great price and our hostess went above to make sure we had everything we needed. Perfectly located in the downtown area. Will be making this a regular place to stay when visiting Sydney.
We were welcomed with a couple of chocolate croissants. Everything was spotless.
Close to Sydney downtown.
Motel owners are a Russian couple and very friendly.
She offered us a cup of coffee just before we left.
Had a laundry.
In comparison with other hotels, the Royal Hotel is truly unique. With vintage furniture throughout, you are transported back in time. The rooms are super cozy, and Carmen will make you feel right at home.
Location was perfect. Facilities were great. Rooms very clean. Very quiet. The staff from the front desk to housekeeping were so friendly and willing to answer and help with any questions.
Walkable to a variety of restaurants, we could see the giant fiddle from our room, friendly and helpful staff, clean, comfortable room, self-service laundry in hotel
