Located on a tropical island in Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, Fitzroy Island Resort is situated between the beach and the rainforest. Cairns is 45 minutes away by ferry.

We stayed in one of the beachfront villas. We loved being so close to the beach; it was delightful to sit outside on the porch and sip on a glass of wine while watching the sunset. The villa was spacious and very comfortable - certainly everything we needed for an enjoyable one night stay.
Being able to snorkel and see beautiful coral and fish right off the beach was wonderful too.

The hotel was situated very close to the cruise terminal. Also to some lovely waterfront restaurants and an easy stroll up to the town centre. We were only there for one night but everything was lovely.

Most days there was no hot water, when I asked them about it they clearly knew there was a problem and did not have any intention of looking into it. I will never stay there again.

Stayed in a 1 bedroom unit, the apartment was spacious with views to the ocean from the side of the balcony. Very convenient and close to everything, easy walk to the reef boat in the morning for our tour. Bed was comfortable.

Fitzroy is a very small island that is a day trip for most people. An overnight stay is an opportunity to experience the island and resort after the day trippers have departed, but two nights will exhaust the available restaurant options and three nights would be too many. Note that although the apartments have fully fitted kitchens, the only store on the island stocks NO food items. Smh. Note also that the few walks available will only suit the very fit and able bodied. A big shout-out to Ali who provides kayaks and SUP from the beachfront. These and the glass bottom boat are recommended.

Bring your own snorkelling gear as hiring it for 3 days is equal to buying it. Food is expensive and the general store is really limited. Bring your own cereal/breakfast to help reduce costs.
Staff are fantastic.
If you have young kids, bring beach shoes as the the sand is very rough and mostly broken coral.
The gym is for staff only, which is strange.
Things to do are limited if its raining, bring cards or games to play.

I loved the beaches, loved being able to swim in safe areas and snorkel along over corals and turtles! Nature walks, Foxy's bar vibe, enchanting resort restaurant, great resort swimming pool, and last but not least, always lovely, helpful staff everywhere! Just the place to chill out!! Must take a pair of thongs/flip-flops.

the best part was the pristine water, Roxy Bar, the Summit hike and Lighthouse hike. Water is beautiful, however potential for box jelly-fish and irukandji stings, which can be fatal. Stinger suits are recommended during season. Pool was okay, although not very deep. Games room is okay but couldn't get coin change as wasn't working. Getting some cash from ATM failed one night due to wi-fi dropout. Most things to buy will cost you 3 times mainland cost for similar product. No dancing allowed currently. Try to get a balcony room - top floor best - or a beach bungalow. Not a great deal to do after nine pm. No cable, small TV. Nice though for quite nights on the beach. Take your own food, wine etc, unless money not an issue.

A fantastic location with excellent snorkeling on the great barrier reef right off the beach. Resort facilities are excellent and for us it was the fulfillment of a dream to visit the great barrier reef.

Excellent place for a holiday.
Excellent place for a holiday. Suites all ages with the activities available. We seen 6 black tips feeding on a school of fish which was amazing. The turtle rehabilitations centre was very informative. The pool and facilities were awesome. We would have loved a bit more variety with food. Found it very average.
The Fitzroy Flyer transfer was on time & the staff were very attentive - as the weather was not great on the way to the island. The island itself is so beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed hiking up to the summit, sitting on the main beach & walking over to Nudie Beach. We would definitely visit Fitzroy Island for a day-trip but would never stay at the resort again.
Beautiful island! Definitely worth it. The snorkeling is spectacular, beaches are gorgeous and the hotel bar (open for all public) is right next to the beach and serves great cocktails, beer and food. The sunset from Nudey beach was one of the nicest I've seen in my life. We were very happy that we didn't pay attention to bad reviews and decided to go.
Fitzroy Island is one of the most precious places on Earth, with stunning reef snorkelling and beautiful rainforest walks. The resort, although a little weathered, was a great base for our family to explore the island for a week. The staff were friendly and helpful, and we had all that we needed. Would go back in a heartbeat.
the location of the hotel, right on the beach; the staff was extremely nice and courteous; the room was clean and in the morning we could see nature awakening. The food was very good; the selection is a bit small. all in all, highly recommended for 2-3 days.
Everything about this resort and location is stunning. Once you check in, you will have plenty of activities to do and you'll never get bored of this island. We did our first scuba diving from here and it was so stunning. Highly recommend!
The hotel room was clean and tvs upgraded to include netflix. Tom, the kiwi staff member was great, very helpful.
Staff and running of transfer boat ..fitzroy flyer ..were very good on both journeys
Breakfast at Zephrs was great.
The restaurant is amazing, and everything is set to have an unforgettable experience at Fitzroy resort. I highly recommend booking this hotel and this fantastic island. There are many things to do for all ages.
The location and food was great, and it was good to have a couple of options for dinner and drinks.
Would highly recommend a day trip to Fitzroy Island but I wouldn’t recommend staying at the resort.
The location, as it is the only hotel in the Island. The food at was also Zephyr was pretty good, even though the restaurant's ambiance was less than desirable.
