Now, we were there for work, and I managed to get sick, so I missed out on a few attractions, but Coona seems like a nice, friendly town. My family managed to get to see one of the observatories, and see some of the planets in real life, including Saturn's rings, so they were absolutely stoked. Apparently a new telescope will be operating there soon, with even better views.

Good sized town with lots of accommodation options. Good supermarket in town and options for fuel. Excellent bakery and other food options right in town. Great base for visits to the Warrumbungle NP and the Pilliga Scrub NP. A Dark Sky town with information easily obtained. Felt comfortable walking around town after business hours.

Enjoyed the first two nights so much I stayed for a third so had two different very comfortable and well-appointed rooms in this lovely renovated cottage. Well back from the highway it is a quiet location. Full breakfast makings are provided and I was able to prepare and cook my evening meals and enjoy the shared lounge. Shared toilets and bathrooms were entirely adequate. Hostess was very welcoming and helpful and accommodating. Would highly recommend as great value for money and a pleasant experience in Coonabarabrand.

Convenient location on north western side of Coonabarabran to continue my journey north to Brisbane. The lovely lady at the reception was friendly and check-in took only a minute. The room was comfortable and very quiet, there was no noise from the highway after dark (I had been concerned that the trucks might be noisy at night; however, the traffic was very minimal after sunset)

The room was a good size, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was functional. Access and parking was very good. Although there are not many restaurants in town they are all an easy walk from the hotel and local food was very good. There is a large Woolworths shop within 500 meters from the hotel and the National Park is an easy drive away.

Despite the central location, The Imperial Hotel was very quiet at night. The rooms are minimalistic but comfortable - including the bed. The water pressure and shower head in the shower was good. The lounge area and kitchen was a nice touch - including a large fridge for storage.
