This was such a pleasant suprise. We visit the area a lot to see my partner's mom, so it's great to have an option that's relatively close to her. The facilities are really nice--everything feels fresh but also very cozy, especially the bar and restaurtant area. It's a place I'd happily spend a few hours eating/drinking (it's got the vibe of a typical old English pub--but probably a lot cleaner!). The food was great (we had breakfast and dinner there). Staff were super friendly and helpful and everyone liked our dog. :) A proper dog-friendly hotel, bar and restaurant with treats and a dog menu at the bar. The room was comfortable and the shower felt powerful enough to strip paint off a building (in a good way!). It was great that there was a fan because the room got a bit stuffy.

Charles and Christine went above and beyond to make me comfortable from the moment I arrived, and extended this same warmth and hospitality to a friend of mine who wasn't even staying at the Porch House, allowing them to breakfast with me and making them feel welcome. The personal touch and care was evident everywhere, from the home-baked biscuits that greeted me in my lovely room, to the ride to the railway station that Charles provided to me at the end of my stay. The rooms are spacious, clean,warm, and tasteful on decor. Staff are very keen to please helpful and always asked if everything is good and did we require anything. We had an evening meal and all seven of us for dinner were very pleased with the meal all the food was cooked to perfection. There is also plenty of on site parking to the rear of the property.

The bed was wonderful. The bathroom and shower better than we had in some 4 star hotels we stayed at in this trip. There was a separate sitting room and bedroom, so rally more than you would expect from a B&B. The host thought of everything - every little detail was flawless. We can’t recommend it enough.
