Set in Melk, GOLDEN STAR - Premium Apartments offers city views and free WiFi, 600 metres from Melk Abbey and 7 km from Schallaburg. From the reviews, we decided to come and stay an extra evening in Melk, rather than continue in Vienna, and it certainly did not disappoint. Large, spacious, modern and sophisticated, we lived in luxury for a reasonable off-season price. We later learnt that Der Goldener Stern also had a past as a historic inn owned by the Abbey. No staff were seen, and none were needed at this self check-in apartment. Radiator was great for drying washed clothes.

Set in Dürnstein, Wachau-Living has accommodation. The units have parquet floors and include a seating area with a flat-screen TV, a fully equipped kitchen with a dining area and a private bathroom. There was a misunderstanding in our booking, but the host lady was very helpful and flexible, and solved it within few minutes and we got an even better accommodation. The apartment was spacious, comfortable, with nice garden and very romantic.

The food in the region (Lower Austria) was sensational, the hosts were exceedingly friendly and welcoming, and the accommodation (fully contained apartment) was modern and immaculate. We definitely intend to return in the future.
