Featuring 5 different Japanese baths, traditional foods and 2 saunas, Jomon no Yado Manten is just 200 metres from Yakushima Airport and a 45-minute drive from the Shiratani Unsuikyo Ravine. The location couldn't be better, it is literally across the street from the airport. Bus stops are very plentiful nearby and the hotel staff is very well versed in showing you exactly which buses you need to get to your destination on the island. They are able to call taxis for you if necessary as well. All around wonderful location and very helpful staff!

A 3-minute walk from Yakushima Airport, Tomarigi offers a bunk in a dorm room, a garden with a hammock and free Wi-Fi. A very short walk from the airport. Host-San is lovely. She’ll help you figure out what to do on the island and how to get there! Very very friendly and kind. There is a bus, and with help, you can figure out which one to take and at what time. My only suggestion would be if you can rent a car, do so. The bus does visit a lot of locations. But a car would make the experience a lot better. Especially if you only have a day or two

Situated in Yakushima, 25 km from Yakusugi Land and 23 km from Jomon Sugi, Yakushima Pension Ichigoichie features accommodation with air conditioning and access to a garden. The little pension is run by a lovely grandma and grandpa. Very welcoming, even though there was a language barrier, as they do not speak English, we managed to get the point across via translation apps. They offer yummy breakfast and can prepare nice bento for you if you ask for it for lunch. The location is great, near the airport, however car is optimal for the best experience. The location of the pension is close to all of the main routes and key activities. We were staying in the private bathroom room and were happy with the facilities.

Situated in Yakushima and only 18 km from Shiratani Unsuikyo, Yakushima Cottage Kukai features accommodation with sea views, free WiFi and free private parking. The owner of the hotel was very hospitable. Ecquiped with Google translator and brought me late at night to grocery shop! Such a lovely plave in the nature. Recommended!!

At Cottage Morinokokage, guests can rent out a cottage with a hammock. Free WiFi is available in the guest rooms. Our host Mr Nakashima was very kind and generous during our stay. He always replied to our messages via bookings.com very quickly, so it was easy to ask any questions and get help whenever we needed. When we had to change our travel dates and book a different room for the last day, he was very understanding and went the extra mile to assist us in transferring our luggage to the new room. Needless to say, the cottages themselves were adorable and lovely! Very clean and spacious, and the beds were comfortable. The best thing is the shoe dryer machine provided in the room. Because it rains so much in Yakushima, that device was invaluable in preparing our footwear for another day of adventure as they would be dry in no time! On the only one clear night we experienced, we were able to see some stars outside the room. The atmosphere is peaceful and you can hear birds chirping in the morning. It rained almost every day we visited, and yet we truly enjoyed our time in Yakushima thanks to the warm welcome from his family & colleagues, and appreciate all the help (especially advising us on the correct port to go for our departure ferry).

Yakushima Minsyuku Suginoko, a property with a garden, is located in Yakushima, 18 km from Yakusugi Land, 26 km from Shiratani Unsuikyo, as well as 29 km from Jomon Sugi. The host is extremely kind and attentive! She took care to help with dinner reservations, and the daily lunchtime bento was wonderful. She encourages guests to be respectful of each other due to some waking up very early for hikes, so the accommodation is warm and welcoming but also peaceful. It is clean and has everything you need. Yakushima Green Hotel ligger en 3-minutters kjøretur fra Ambo havn, og tilbyr rom i japansk og vestlig stil med havutsikt. I liked the location because it was convenient to three different hiking areas. I had a sea view room which was clean and comfortable. The nightly dinners allowed me to sample many Japanese delicacies. Staff adapted well to my minimal Japanese language skills and were helpful in areas I needed help. There was good parking space for my rental car and it was convenient to a grocery store.
