Hotel in Ilulissat ( 1.4 miles)
Set 15 minutes’ walk from the town centre of Ilulissat, HOTEL SØMA Ilulissat has spectacular views of the world famous Ilulissat Icefjord. We are a family of five including 3 children, and the apartment we lived on the 4th floor was spacious enough and has such an amazing view. We had a comfortable stay and the place made a positive experience for our travels in Ilulissat. I would definitely recommend it to larger families ad anyone wishing a spacious and comfortable stay in one of the most far away locations in the world. Great thanks to the staff member Oraly (from France) for her hospitality and friendliness.

Ilulissat is an epic place to visit especially if you want to see whales and icebergs. Literally, there are 20 whales blowing air at the same time while we are there. We had an amazing time and would come back again and again for the whales and northern light.
Loved this area! You can get away from town quite easily and hike with fabulous views and vistas, or you can stroll around town and enjoy a latte at Cafe Inuit. The town offers numerous tours, options to meet locals and their sledge dogs and a great microbrewery!
Great little town. You can probably walk around the main part of the town in about in 20-30mins. Would recommend the B&Bs over hotels. Many great walks around the town (look out for the Yellow and Blue trails), which you can do on your own. They're not difficult and have some amazing sites of the the icefjord, icebergs and if lucky like me will see whales diving off the cost. Highly recommend walking down to the old church to watch amazing sunsets. The Cafe Inuit is great for food. Great choice, friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere and good prices, Most of the time you will not need cash. There was only a couple of occasions where I needed too.
Ilulissat is the city where the gigantic ice sheet get melted and calved. Eqi glacier is another place located up north which may take about 7 hour boat ride. We did not go there as the price is quite high (around 2000dkk each). The glacier on the right side (south) of this city is already amazing for us (2-3 hours boat tour). Seeing calving Eqi glacier is an optional if you wish to sit longer in a tight seat for around 7 hours with hope that there will be a calving in front of you. What we did in 3 days were, iceburg and whale excursion by boat, walking on the yellow route (one day) , walking on the wood bride on sky blue dotted route for the next day already gave us a lot of experiences and scenic views
Absolutely gorgeous with the Icebergs, Ice Fjord, glaciers, the seals and whales, calving of ice, kayaking, the wonderful people and the homely feel of Ilulissat. This has been one of the best places in the world that we have visited.
Ilulissat is a city providing all services for tourists what the arctic can offer. Tour guides and equipment for hiking on the ice, flying over it or visit it from the sea. Watching the amazing whales and the breathtaking experience of calving of the glaciers can be accessed from Ilulissat. would strongly recommend Cafe Inuit for their kind service and for the delicious food which offers not only greenlandic but asian treats.
