Located in a 100 year-old Registered Tangible Cultural Property, Ryokan Hostel K's House is located in Shizuoka, a 7-minute walk from JR Ito Train Station. This place is such a gem! The atmosphere is surreal, the place very clean and the staff super nice and helpful. We chose the double room with private veranda on the river and we were so happy! We also got to try their private onsen, as well as one of the outdoor onsen they suggest, and were amazed by the experience. The hotel was i a perfect location to reach any place of interest in Ito.

Situated 1.5 km from Takayama Station, Iroriyado Hidaya is a recently renovated 4-star accommodation in Takayama, boasting a garden, a shared lounge and private parking. Our stay at Iroriyado Hidaya was one of the highlights of our 2-week trip. The hospitality was exceptional, probably the best we've ever experienced even in comparison to other more expensive ryokans. Staff were extremely kind and helpful; we had our own itinerary planned out, but we've seen how they assisted other foreign guests with recommendations to visit around Takayama. We had a Japanese speaker in our group, but the language barrier should not be much of an issue as they use a translation device with international guests. Location is quite a bit of a walk from the station, though we felt that it was worth it and they were extremely willing to help with taxi reservations for the next and subsequent mornings. Very highly recommended to stay here :)

Atami Sekaie is set in Atami, 2.6 km from Atami Sun Beach, 25 km from Hakone-Yumoto Station, and 35 km from Shuzen-ji Temple. Everything! The staff were so polite and welcoming. The welcome seating and drink while staff helped us check in was so pleasant, our own personal staff to show us to our room, the beautiful room with all the little details or amenities, our own traditional Yakuta to wear to meals, the private onsen and peaceful nature of the ocean view. Everything was amazing!!

Situated in Atami in the Shizuoka region with Atami Sun Beach nearby, SOKI ATAMI features accommodation with free private parking, as well as access to a sauna. Entire experience is what we truly appreciated specially the private onsen.

Offering a shared lounge and quiet street view, Toraya is set in Gero, 48 km from Takayama Station and 49 km from Hida Minzoku Mura Folk Village. I really enjoyed the possibility to book a private onsen, the room was very clean and comfy with a private bathroom, at walking distance from the train station

Set 9.1 km from Shuzen-ji Temple, Yumeguri no Yado Yoshiharu offers 5-star accommodation in Izunokuni and has a garden. The staff was very attentive and friendly, food was top class.

Facing the seafront, Izu Hokkawa Seaside Guesthouse 伊豆北川の家 is a ryokan providing a 2-star accommodation in Higashiizu. It features a private beach area, garden and private parking. Its a good location for a quiet, relaxing holiday in a small town. We stayed over the weekend, its easy to take the train to other towns (although it doesnt go that frequently). The nearby Hokkawa onsen (Kurone iwaburo) has to be one of our favorite onsens we have visited, with the bath facing out to the sea, really recommend a visit!! The owner of the guesthous is very sweet and made sure we were comfortable during our stay. Will definitely come back!

Offering a garden and garden view, Nagataki is located in Nakatsugawa, 13 km from Ōi and 34 km from Japan Taisho Village. The property is allergy-free and is situated 12 km from Enakyo Wonderland. This place was a hallmark of Japanese hospitality! The host Masaya-san was quick to respond to any questions I had over text, and scheduled a driver to pick me up from the station when I arrived, and dropped me off at Magome for my hike the next day. He was extremely thoughtful in ensuring the logistics of my trip were fully taken care of, and at no point was I left feeling lost. He also prepared dinner and breakfast which were diverse in local seasonal ingredients and absolutely delicious! Not to mention the compound and house itself is full of history and charm! Will definitely stay here again if I return to the Kiso valley.

34 km from Shuzen-ji Temple in Higashiizu, Bousui offers accommodation with access to a sauna, hot spring bath and hot tub. The property has sea and quiet street views, and is 49 km from Mount Daruma.... Everything was perfect. Amazing romantic gateway. 10/10 Friendly staff. Amazing dinner and breakfast. Relaxing. Amazing bath.
