Scandic Narvik is situated on the main street, Kongens Gate. This hotel has free WiFi internet, a fitness centre and a restaurant. The sky bar offers a panoramic view of the city and Ofotfjord. I absolutely love this hotel. I remember seeing this building when I first came to Narvik nearly a year ago. It certainly stands out. I knew I had to stay here and I did for 4 nights. I was on the 4th floor, and it came with a view over the fjord. Nearly all the rooms here have either a view like I had or they have a view at the mountains. My room was comfortable. But I needed a chair that I could get comfortable and read. I used the downstairs area to read or write.

Breidablikk Guesthouse is located in central Narvik, 350 metres from Narvik Storsenter Shopping Centre. It offers rooms with private bathrooms, a flat-screen satellite TV and free Wi-Fi. So they clearly stated here that reception was not open for a couple of hours at the weekend, and I happened to be arriving around those exact hours on a Saturday. You know what they did after we exchanged a couple of messages beforehand? They found a solution for me (and two other guests) to check in without waiting for hours! If you think that this is what a hotel / hostel / guesthouse should do and there is nothing outstanding about it, wait until visiting a certain hotel down in Amsterdam, get left out at night because they can't check you in at those hours because there's nobody at the reception, and acknowledge that these guys at Breidablikk are exceptionally helpful, nice and also practical people.

There is a combo clothes washer/dryer and a drying rack, so we were able to do our laundry. This is a big plus in a country with few self-service laundromats. Though there is a laundromat in Narvik, it is only open on Thursdays, and only for a short number of hours.) The bed was comfortable. (Note that if you are two people needing separate bedrooms, you need to notify the owner about that ahead of time because otherwise you may find the other bedrooms locked.) The shower was good (steady temperature, good pressure, and well-enclosed). There was a bathmat. Parking is free and right in front of the house. The location is quiet. The owner lives close by. It is only about a 20-minute walk to restaurants. As advertised, the view is fantastic, especially the sunsets.

The inclusive ride up the mountain in a cable car was appreciated and was well worth it. The views were amazing but the location may not be the best for the northern lights on account of the coastal clouds and weather, as well as ambient lights from the town below and the illuminated ski slopes. The size was perfect and cozy for two and the amenities were excellent along with all the features as listed, The shower worked fine and took just minor management. Nice design, layout, and features all around. Stayed 5 days and could have stayed longer, Several well-stocked supermarkets nearby. Car was essential.
