Nara Visitor Centre amd Inn ligger i sentrum av Nara, bare en 3-minutters spasertur fra Kofuku-ji-tempelet og Naramachi. The room was huge, a family could comfortably stay for multiple nights (2 double beds and a fold out sofa). There was even a large kitchen for budget travellers. A konbini, 2 washing machines (¥300) and dryers (¥100) even a communal bath in the basement -if you haven’t used one on your trip it gives you an idea. The bathroom was clean and the tub regular size with great hot water. My daughter and I felt very safe here and she really enjoyed making origami with the staff. We used it as a base to explore beautiful Nara prefecture. The Kintetsu station was an easy walk from here. I loved waking up to our view every morning.

Ichimaru Ryokan - Vacation STAY 35990v is located in Tenkawa, in the Dorogawa Onsen district. At the hotel, every room is equipped with a desk and a TV. I had expected the place to be a hotel and only realised after arriving that it was a traditional Japanese inn. The hosts were fantastic. Communication was with translation by iPhone but everything was clear. The inn is traditional so be prepared for the futon bed and the shared bathroom and washing facilities. But it's also small so we did not need to queue or wait. We were also provided with traditional dress which we wore to the craft beer bar close by. The hosts were wonderful. Everything from arranging a taxi to advice on what we needed for the hot spring bath in the village. The breakfast and dinner (it's an inn so both are included even though breakfast is mentioned only) were amazing. It was at a level I would expect in an expensive restaurant here but felt like you were in a home and not a hotel. The area is great for hiking and the village is just super nice. Great ice-cream place nearby also. All in all it was the best weekend break I have ever had and I have loads of memories - my advice is to go there and just immerse yourself without expectations. Again the hosts were amazing

The history of the house, the building, the room, wonderful staff, hospitality and warm welcome and magnificent garden. The breakfast was delicious. The staff recommended very good places for dinner. We absolutely loved the stay.

I loved that it was fairly easy to find and close to Nara’s hot spots finding everything in a walking distance. I really thought it was of great value for what I paid and although the room was smaller than I would like – I spent most my time exploring so I was just happy to come back to a comfortable and cozy place to rest and relax with a hot bath and friendly staff. I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel itself does not provide everything as one-stop service as another, you have to wander around the town to find the things you are looking for (sometime over your expectation). I was so enjoyed staying there and also the time to talk with the locals (but you may need to have some Japanese communication skill, or even you cannot, I am certainly sure that they will somehow communicate with you with their best). You must try Sento, the public available for free to their guest staying there.
