Set in a renovated farmhouse, this guest house is located by Lake Lagarfljót in Eglisstadir village. I recently stayed at Gistihúsið - Lake Hotel Egilsstadir during a trip to Iceland and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is located in a stunning location overlooking Lake Lagarfljót, and we were lucky enough to spot the Northern Lights during our stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful, providing us with tips on the best spots to view the Northern Lights and ensuring that we were comfortable throughout our stay. The room was clean and spacious, with a comfortable bed and all the necessary amenities. The breakfast buffet was also delicious, with a great variety of options to choose from. One of the highlights of our stay was the hot tub facility, which was situated outside with stunning views of the lake and surrounding mountains. It was the perfect way to relax after a day of exploring the area. Overall, I would highly recommend Gistihúsið - Lake Hotel Egilsstadir to anyone visiting the area. The location, staff, amenities, and Northern Lights spotting opportunities are all excellent, and the hot tub is a fantastic added bonus. I would definitely stay here again.

Situated next to Iceland’s Ring Road, this family-run farm hotel offers brightly decorated rooms with a TV and a private bathroom. The Hoffell Hot Springs are 25 km away. Good location, very lovely staff, quiet, very good breakfast and a surprisingly delicious dinner

Hotel Stadarborg is in Breiddalur Valley, next to Road 1 and less than a 1-hour drive from Egilsstadir. Great place to have a stop for the night when entering the fjords. Good food friendly staff. And the hottub with the sauna makes it better.

The amazing location of Hotel Skaftafell provides guests with stunning views of Iceland's highest mountain, Hvannadalshnjukur and the largest glacier in Europe, Vatnajökull. You can go from the hotel to gletcher svinajokull - the closest I have ever been. Amazing area

Just 5 minutes’ drive from Höfn in south-east Iceland, this hotel is found along Route 1, close to the country’s largest glacier Vatnajökull. Breakfast was great and the dining area was even better than photos show. We were very pleasantly surprised with this hotel on our long road trip. Staff was helpful and kind as well.

Berjaya Hérað Hotel is situated in Egilsstadir, 5 km from Lagarfljot River. It offers a terrace bar and 24-hour room service. All rooms have Wi-Fi, satellite TV and wooden floors. The service here was absolutely wonderful, really above and beyond! The lounge area was great for happy hour and the rooms were cozy with a nice view of the snowy mountains.
