VASILIKON Hotel 1888 the past is present provides rooms in Kalamata near Pantazopoulio Cultural Center and Military Museum of Kalamata. The charming and historical venue was stunning and the management were very hospitable. Effie and George could not have been more helpful and welcoming. The location was perfect 1/2 way between the old town and new town square and cafes and shops at the door step. The bus stop is three minutes walk and for 1.3 euros takes you to the beautiful beach and beach bars and seafood taverns. The bed was the most comfortable for our entire four week six accommodation stays. Luxury towels and robes and the best shower in Greece. Quiet private and the most beautiful breakfast is served. Good wifi and we loved the balcony to view the interesting local town comings and going’s. We recommend this hotel for romantic stay for couples who appreciate comfort and luxury with a great location.

From DKK 571 per nightFantastic location perched on a hillside above the Messinian gulf and lots of balconies and sitting areas to take it all in. Up a winding, one-track, road from the coast (arrive before dark!) but once you make it there is lots of parking. Had a studio apartment which was one big room with a sitting area, bedroom and kitchen. Staff was very friendly and even helped us with our laundry. We were there in April so Kalamata was still quiet but this was our spot to chill in the middle of the trip and worked perfectly for that. Definitely recommend!

The location was great, within walking distance from the local taverns, bakery and supermarket and very close to a beautiful beach, ideal for a vacation with a baby or young children. Overall, we had a great time and will definitely stay again on our next visit to Messinia.

This is the second time we were visiting the Messinian Icon. Every time we need to be in Kalamata, this is the place to be. Personally I believe this is the best hotel the town has to provide. Amazing facilities, great pool, spa and amenities all around. A huge Plus, the room service and the restaurant at night. If you try their food, you will be extra pleased. Second time there and the food keeps on getting better and better. Greek cuisine mainly, with a modern twist. Loved everything about this hotel!

We really enjoyed our night stay out of high season. The whole feel of the place was peaceful, the perfect place to relax. Communication with Rena before and during our stay was great. The apartments are modern and exceptionally clean; we had a very comfortable stay. The best part was enjoying a drink in the evening sitting on the terrace in the restaurant below watching the stunning sunset.
