Ponte Vecchio
Peruse the shops perched above the River Arno on this pedestrian bridge. Dating back to 972, its history is the stuff of storybooks. Ponte Vecchio’s seen it all from noble feuds to ruinous floods. Once a market where vendors sold meat, the smell of raw flesh tossed in the Arno disgusted the Medici dukes. Today’s retailers are much less carnivorous (they’re jewellers).

You have to buy something from 18-karat gold here☺️! It’s not cheap but gold is tradition in Florence ( and leather). But be prepared that it’s only not crowded in the morning (when only few shops are open though).

Our hotel was adjacent to this attraction so we had a daily view of it. The photo shown by booking.com does not resemble what it looked like in December. The bridge itself is wall to wall jewellery shops. A good time to visit is before or after they close. The shop fronts change back to the original wooden frontage and makes for a good photo.

Since I visited Florence four times in the 21 years, I know enough where to choose as accomandation. On our last visit, we took an apartment on the southern side of the river, the Bridge was just below our window. The city view is both fantastic and classic. It is the apartment with almost the same view of the location of the "hotel room" where the film "Room with a view" was shot. It is like a dream coming true.

We went in November so I'm not sure if maybe they don't have lights at night during the colder months but we were bummed when we went at night and couldn't really see anything. Go during the day to see the full affect!

This place is simply too overcrowded with street peddlers and tourists. It is hard to take a decent photos. Nevertheless, it is pretty lively and vibrant. Take some time to admire the artworks of the local artists as they nimbly sketch the beautiful views from Ponte Vecchio.

The location was perfect. It was a short walk from the train station to reach the room and it was located near the Ponte Vecchio. Just outside the apartment is the historical section of the city with plenty of shops, restaurants, and cafes. It was a short walk to reach many of the tourist attractions. Our host Dario was very nice and extremely accommodating, checking to make sure the room was good, clean, and we were stocked up on supplies. The room was very clean and secure, making it perfect for a few nights stay while exploring Florence.
The hotel is close enough to walk to the city museums and landmarks. A rainy day we appreciated our large window looking at the river, Ponte Vecchio bridge and Piti Palace Lovely breakfast was beautifully presented The staff was very courteous. The hotel is beautifully decorated with classic charm/class. We love being greeted by Hero, their precious pup.
A beautiful old building from the Middle Ages remodeled to host several boutique hotels, including Stupido. Spacious with the highest ceilings I've ever seen in a hotel. We had a large room, comfortable bed. Quiet. Five minutes by foot from the river and 15 minutes from Ponte Vecchio. A super warm welcome by Alessandro and his staff. We would definitely come back.
Fantastic location in the heart of Florence overlooking the Arno River with a great view of the Ponte Vecchio. The Uffizi is a 5 minute walk, and all the sights are close by. There are many great trattoria and restaurants within a short walk. The host, Matteo, is very friendly and helpful. Renting an entire spacious apartment for my wife and myself was a great experience.
Excellent location, right in the center of Florence, 1 minute from the Ponte Vecchio. Charming old hotel, with views of the Arno from our room. Spacious, comfortable, with attention to details (like the mosquito repellent machine). The staff is super friendly and charming.
Everything! Location,Staff,Amenities,Breakfast which included Mimosas and Cafe’ drinks,Bar,Room with Double Balconies that viewed the Arno River and Ponte Vecchio, Daily Room Cleaning, Robes, Complimentary Slippers, Daily Treats. We will definitely ALWAYS stay at Hotel Balestri-WTB Hotels when we come to Florence. I am from Texas and we have some called Southern Hospitality. Hotel Balestri has that Hospitality!!!!
Excellent location, extremely well decorated and tidy!
The staff is fantastic, politely treating every guest, and going above and beyond to please us!
I got there because my previous hotel in the last minute did not confirm the reservation and what a wonderful surprise I had!
A calm spot right in the middle of one of the most busy pints of Florence- Il Ponte Vecchio!
Large stylishly appointed apartment with a nice kitchen and bathrooms. The furnishings are modern and everything is in good shape. The location on the South side of the river is in a quieter part of Florence, but only a 5-minute walk from the Ponte Vecchio bridge. Many great restaurants, cafes and wine bars are located nearby on Santa Spirito. The hosts were quick to respond to messages and provided good arrival and check-in information.
