This family-run 3-star hotel enjoys a quiet location in the heart of Kassel, and benefits from excellent public transport links. A tram stop is just a short walk away. The Hotel Chassalla operates on a level of detail that is increasingly rare in the era of algorithmic, anonymous chain hotels. Haribos on your turned-down bed, a full carafe of coffee on the breakfast table, a little comb and sewing kit in the bathroom: these are the small moments of care that make this a special place. The hotel remains unchanged from its 80s postmodern neo-Memphis design heyday, and while it feels rather worn-in in places, it never feels neglected. Communication with the hotel management was effortless, accommodating, and clear from the first email to the printed invoice (and admittedly, we had a rather complicated booking request). We felt taken care of with such warmth and familiarity, such humanity. Breakfast is fairly standard German hotel fare with more of the small details that make this place so worthy of a 10/10 rating: scrambled eggs, bacon, smoked salmon, cheese, grapes, airy brötchen. Nothing extravagant, nothing organic, but plentiful and good. Transportation is easy: the hotel is on a tramline that runs from Wilhelmshöhe to the city centre fairly regularly.

The host family was very friendly, helpful and easy to communicate with. All rooms in the apartment were modern, light and well-equipped. The balcony was very nice - so if the weather had been better, we would have spent a lot of time there.
