Fly direct to Malmö Airport from select European cities, or Copenhagen Airport (30km away). Trains connect Malmö to major Swedish cities and Copenhagen (35 minutes). Ferries from Germany and Poland dock in nearby Trelleborg.
Copenhagen Airport is the most convenient for both domestic and international travellers due to its extensive flight network. It's approximately 30km from Malmö, making it easily accessible via the Öresund Bridge.

For short distances, cycling is popular, with Malmö being a bike-friendly city. Car rentals are available, but remember Sweden drives on the right. Always check the latest travel updates before planning your journey.
The best areas to stay in Malmö, Sweden, are Västra Hamnen for its modern architecture and beach, and Gamla Staden for its historic charm. Both are centrally located, offering easy access to attractions and amenities.
I really liked my first time in Sweden. The people seem very friendly, there is a lot to see, and I was lucky to have amazing weather during the entire trip.
Malmö is quite big, so while you can walk everything, it may be more comfortable to get a day pass for the public transport. I walked on average 20 km each day, which may have been less if I had made a concrete plan on which route to go, but I tend to go with the flow - and there's a lot of flow in Malmö.
The Disgusting Food Museum was fun, if you're into some out of the ordinary things to do, but there are also plenty of other museums, churches, and things to see in every street.
The city is a little bit dirty, but not outrageously so, and it's quite fresh as it is located directly next to the see. The beach is nice too, there's a beach for dogs, and space to swim.
I also spent one day in Lund, which is really easy to reach and an extremely nice University town with some great churches and architecture. I thought I could do this in a few hours, but I could have spent the entire day there.
I feel like I could come back for another week and still discover more things in both places, so I will definitely be returning.

Malmo is one of the greatest cities I ever visited. Firstly, the surroundings are very nice. The city has a beach, many parks, much of restaurants, museums, activity friendly places. Secondly, everyone is really nice and relaxed and the overall vibe is home-like. I would totally recommend to anyone who wants a short or even long city break.

An interesting city and the 'Cathedral' - St Petri - is a stunning building with what is said to be the largest organ in Scandinavia. Certainly well worth a visit. The various squares with restaurants are cosy and fun. The live music bar (Irish themed) called Fagan's was fun and full of atmosphere. The 'Folk & Rock' bar/live music house in the Lilla Torg square was full of memorabilia and whilst we didn't see the band playing there that night, we went for a coffee after church the following day.
We wanted to visit so much more, but sadly we didn't have the time.

A visit to the artificial island of Universitetsholmen near the train station offers the opportunity to get architectural and musical impressions from Malmö Live.
A walk through Kungsparken and a jump into the city library „Stadtsbibliothek“ with its bright furnitures and ground floor windows that let in the green colors of the park show a calm sight of the city.
The Malmö Konstmuseum offers insights into Swedish art and is a good retreat in its natural surroundings.
Helsingborg with its harbour and cultural center including a visit at Olsons skafferi with its Italian athmosphere is a good option for a one-day trip.
And an evening in Øresundsparken with view to Øresund bridge is a nice final impression.

If you have time rent a bike and ride trough the city.
If you have time rent a bike and ride trough the city. Wonderful experience. On the Central station (level just below Bus station) there is a rent-a-bike store. They are very friendly and price is great. We enjoyed it .
This was my first time to experience self check-in/out, they offer this on some computer terminals beside the reception. I was able to avoid the long queue. The location was perfect just near Malmö Centralstation, had to stay for a night for my morning flight from CPH. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable. I have to mention the breakfast! Even though it was the same menu like every hotel breakfast I have ever had in Sweden, this one was remarkably tasty! And the fruit slices were really fresh!
A warm welcome by the host Gazale. Everything felt very family-like and with great engagement. The kitchen is very clean and travellers can leave their food that they do not want to carry with them and mark it as 'Free to use' for others, which I like a lot..
A nice, standard breakfast buffet, that satisfies most flavours.
I stayed during off-season with only a few guests, but hope the standard it's the same during high season.
I definitely will return to this hotel on my next stay in Malmö.
This hotel was just lovely. The staff was super accommodating and made our stay very special as we were traveling to celebrate an anniversary. The location is extremely convenient for visiting either Malmo or Copenhagen, and it is nice and quiet yet within walking distance to great restaurants and shops and transit, as well as the local sightseeing locations. The breakfast buffet was also a highlight - extensive and delicious. I would 100% stay here the next time we get a chance to visit Sweden!
The studio appartment we stayed in was well equiped and spacious. This was our second stay at forenom, we came back because the location is great (walking distance to central station, bus stop in front of the hotel as well as malmo by bike bikes) and it is very good value for money. Perfect for longer stays, since there is communal laundry machines as well. Self check-in works great, we arrived much later than planned so it was nice knowing we could enter our room without making someone wait.
Compact facilities with a modern utilitaristic aesthetic, very human-centric and functional design, laid back and attentive staff. While Unity is a bit off center from Malmö proper it is in a very neighbourhood, with its own personality and room to breathe, yet in som of the near-by side streets new and hip cafés and niche shops are beginning to appear. I did not know the area very much in advance, but definitely will be checking it out again. And yes, it might be as a guest at Unity.
Great location near Malmo central train station and the river, really nice members of staff, the hotel is really nice, my room was in an awkward part of the hotel but I quite liked how chill where it was. A few more veggie options would’ve been nice for breakfast but there was cheese, rolls, tomatoes and pickles, make your own muesli and granola and vegan milk and yoghurt which was unexpected and great. Room was small but had everything I needed and had such a nice view
the hotel; location was excellent.. the area surrounding was so nice, walking distance to a nice mall, and restaurant's.
the arcade of hotel provides a wonderful walking path,, the reception was nice.. the room size was reasonable,, and breakfast was well managed although it was always full. i would highly recommend it for families.. very close to Copenhagen-Malmo bridge
The location is a short distance from Malmo city centre, but with good transport. Healthy breakfasts are available in the lobby cafe. We loved the 'orangery', an airy room where we could bring our meals and eat there. This is a new hotel with architect-designed decor, and a gym, and is ideal for an business guest. Our rooms also had a small kitchenette.
The hotel is situated a few minutes walk from the Central Station in Malmö and a few more from the old town centre, just perfect. Staff is always smiling and helpull. Rooms are tidy and beds comfy. The soap and shampoo from Rituals in the bathrooms are exquisite. The breakfast is quite good too. All in all, great quality for the money.
Everything was perfect. The hotel is very nice, the beds are very comfortable, room size good, the bathroom ok too.
The dinner and breakfast were very good too, great for vegetarians as well.
We enjoyed every minute in this beautiful hotel.
For sure will return every time we will be in Malmo again.
Location was good and 20 minutes far from central station malmö by walking.
They've helped us to got food from mobile apps so we're realy appreciate that.
Rooms are clean and u got 2 minute walk to nearest biggest shops in malmö Also there is one bus station near hotel.
5 minute walk to seaside.
Location! It doesn’t get more central in Malmö, Sweden’d third largest city - and totally Danish too we believe! Yes! I got a single narrow bed with a wonderful armchair next to it. It was inside alas gave an impression of being with a window. It felt safe and the key functioned all the time.
The hotel is very well located in Malmo with easy access to all parts of the city. The breakfast is amazing with a lot of Variety. In the reception there is Always tee, coffee and cookies available. I find this very convenient. There are weight in the room to exercise! never seen that before
Hotel is nice, breakfast is good. The rooms were cold and chilly. When hotel is crowded better to use the stairs and elevators take forever. The hotel is very nice and centrally located and perfect for visiting Malmo. They just need NEW reception staff and everything should be OK.
Good location in cental Malmö. My room on top floor was nice & cosy with a view over the rooftops. The hotel is a mix of very old style, quite modern and in between. The staff was super friendly and supported a late check out.
A lovely hotel near Malmö Centralstation, in the old town. Very unique, very personal, lovely details (the elevator, the signed photos of musicians which stayed at the hotel), breakfast is in the old vault in the basement.
Good for a stopover between Copenhagen Airport and Sweden, for travelers arriving late.
Nice room, good size, no luxury but good standard.
Good breakfast with a decent selection and good quality food.
Perfect location, spacious and stylish rooms (a bit old fashioned, in a good way), super nice staff and tasty breakfast! We will surely stay at Mayfair Hotel again next time we're in Malmö!
