Some of the staff was ok.
However, it is strange that in a Portuguese hotel, most of the staff that I encounter doesn't know how to speak Portuguese properly.
Breakfast had a good variety.

The hotel has everything you can possibly need. Close to all main port wine houses and with very easy access to the main centre of Porto. Very confortable room and L'Occitane toiletries. Also, having an outdoor swimming pool (heated) is amazing, perfect to relax between morning and evening turistic activities. The restaurant and bar are fantastic, I loved the port wine cocktails. I strongly recommend this hotel.

There are good restaurands ,and not very expensive.
The riverside is lively and you should take a gable to the hillside.
It is not so far away from Porto so you can walk there.

Beautiful part of Porto, right over the river with plenty to do. Most of the Porto wine "caves" are on this side of the river but getting across is a quick uber ride. We did a Tuk Tuk tour as well and got to enjoy a Fado performance at night. New Years Eve dinner cruise was great but book ahead so you don't miss out! I would definitely visit again!

The area has plenty of interesting things to visit.
The area has plenty of interesting things to visit. Of course, the region is very well known for the vineyards and the respective Port wine cellars, which you can visit and even have a wine tasting. A walk by the river is also recommended.

Being across the river from the old town means gorgeous views and a wonderful relaxed vibe. So many great places to eat and drink all within a short walk. And the old town is easily accessible by foot, tram, even cable car. You are surrounded by the port warehouses, and other renovated industrial buildings. The whole area has had a recent facelift and the city as a whole is very safe and friendly. Everywhere you go the staff and shopkeepers go out of their way to make sure you have an amazing stay. Except the lady in the tourist information. She must have been having a bad day!

We arrived at this hotel the day they opened. The room was spectacular! Huge with stunning view of Porto, we hardly left it for the remainder of our stay:) Spent lot of time on the terrace, drinking wine and absorbing the beauty of this magnificent city. Visited spa every day; with its swimming pool and sauna it was extremely cosy and relaxing. Breakfast was top notch, they even served kombucha. The staff was extremely nice and welcoming, thank you so much for the fantastic stay!!! Your hotel made our vacation unforgettable.
This hotel is exceptional; the staff are professional and nice, and everything is clean and arranged properly.
The rooms are huge and have amazing views. I was upgraded to a superior room, and the view from the terrace was breathtaking. I spent 70% of my time in Porto/Gaia just sitting on that amazing terrace.
The room service was delicious and high quality, nothing cheap here.
The Spa had great options.
I loved the city, but the main reason I might come back is the hotel.
We had a fantastic stay at The House of Sandeman.
The location is excellent, just next to the Douro River with a spectacular view of the opposite river side and the Ponte Luís I Bridge.
Our room was immaculately clean and very comfortable. Room and suite decors are amazing. Furthermore, the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful.
We would definitely choose this accommodation again when staying in Porto, respectively, Vila Nova de Gaia.
Golden Tulip Porto Gaia Hotel Is one of the best hotels i was in my travelling. The crew, Juliana and Anderson were very helpful and kind. Juliana took care to all my request and was kind in helping anything, therefore i thank her a lot for making my stay much more pleasant. The room was amazing, everything was more than perfect, the furniture the view is outstanding. Definitely a wise decision i made in life to go and take this hotel.
The location was a taxi in to town but get a bolt it’s about 5-6 euro depending where you go in Porto. It’s a bit expensive for a budget hotel but Porto is an expensive area.
The rooms were small with a comfortable bed. If you have a lot of luggage it won’t fit in the room.
The hotel had a nice little garden to sit in nicely done and the restaurant was clean. We didn’t have breakfast for 9 euros each but it looked good.
Great location within a minutes walk to the Douro Riverside with plenty of bars & restaurants. The hotel is immaculate with beautiful quirky rooms. Carla was very helpful and shared her knowledge on the local area, gave advice on restaurants, food, trips etc. We went as a group of 12 (6 couples) who all highly recommend and will return to this beautiful boutique hotel if we return to Porto.
We did enjoy our 12 days stay very much. This is one of the nicest hotels we ever visited! Just close to this amazing nice and old bridge and well above the river and the old center of Porto and Gaia you have all the time a very pleasent view. So the (very good!) breakfast becomes for itselfe an exciting event!
We loved every single moment we spent a the hotel, one of the best places to stay in whole of Portugal. The service is unmatchable, staff is friendly and professional, interiors are luxurious and welcoming. Perfect stay and we definitely will be coming back many times
Hotels in Porto are absolutely overpriced, so this is a good solution to avoid yielding to their greediness. Here is a modern hotel, quiet, well kept, with nice rooms. We had a view on the sea and also enjoyed an excellent breakfast and free parking,
Everything. This was my favorite hotel in Portugal. Exceptional across the board. It checked all the boxes. The view is breathtaking. The staff is wonderful. The food is excellent. The different bars are delightful. Outstanding location. Wow! 🥰
We traveled with a dog and it was an amazing facility to walk with him in a small park next to hotel building. The room was nice. We liked the pool. Convenient parking. The location was quite ok to get to most touristic areas of Porto by taxi.
Carla the host was absolutely incredible! every hotel needs someone like her for the best tips for the city!
The property exceeded my expectations offering the best views of Porto from our bedroom!
I would definitely stay again!
There is everything you need and the location is great both for visiting Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia. Public transportation is close. Great owners, met us at the property, explained everything.
Best hotel I have ever stayed at , the staff is amazing. The staff couldn't have done anything more for us or made it any better. Will stay here every time I come to Porto.
