The location is not for everyone, but we loved it.
It is isolated from the nearest villages, but the views more than compensate for that you're pretty much required to have dinner in their, very good (!), restaurant if you want to have glass or two of wine.
Sitting in 120 hectares of Douro Valley vineyards, this traditional manor house has been converted into Portugal’s first wine hotel.

A breathtakingly beautiful property , with attention to minute detail with a caring and friendly team that delivered an outstanding experience .
The cuisine and service at the award winning Teracu restaurant on the property was simply amazing showcasing the best ingredients in a hearty but yet beautifully presented plates.
Jorge, Francisca , Rafael, Maura and Alexandra were spontaneously warm and hospitable and made the Douro valley stay one of the most memorable highlights of our two and a half week trip to Portugal. Each of them were experts in their respective fields and went out of their way to make it a very special and delightful experience for us.We will surely visit this property again and recommend it to all our friends and family..
Thank you guys for making it so!

We drove to Pinhão.
We drove to Pinhão. The roads are slightly terrifying but the views are spectacular.
We were there in March so not everything was open. Best restaurant was Writers Place! The walking trails through the vineyards were fantastic!

The perfect spot to explore some of the lovely Quintas the Douro Valley has to offer. Would definitely recommend Pinhao as your base. We drove to Pinhao from Porto which was great for sight seeing and super easy. We visited the three Quintas that are within walking distance from Pinhao train station which were lovely. I’d recommend making a reservation in advance for dinners or lunch where possible. But we also did a few walk ins.

Pinhao is stunning. with good selection of restaurants in the evening. Beautiful wineries. As the wineries are built into cliffs the drive to Pinhao and around is not for the faint hearted. The roads are very narrow some without safety barriers. However if you can get past this it is worth it for the scenary. It is a sleepy village but everyone is so friendly. One or two days maximum is enough.

Excellent location on an S bend on the river Douro.
Excellent location on an S bend on the river Douro. Sleepy village atmosphere but with plenty of activities around the railway boat trips and quinta wine tasting. Some good restaurants. Wonderful views if you climb up through the village. Watch out for the dogs though - they are always enclosed but can be extremely aggressive.

The position of this hotel is breath taking and the staff are really helpful. Be careful when booking, some rooms are in the main building but some are away up and down a very, very steep lane. Not for anyone with a disability. We used the restaurant and although the food was lovely, we thought it was a bit pricey. It was good, but not that good.
The location was picture perfect, the property had everything you could want for a short or long stay. The apartment was very spacious, clean and comfortable. Ana stocked the fridge with so many wonderful treats we were delighted! The daily fresh bread made us want to stay forever! 46 is the house number, between two store fronts in a large, yellow housing unit. Directly across from a cute little wine shop. Pinhao is transforming and therefore a little sleepy, it was great to have a place to call home!
Dois Lagares House was easily accessible from the train station in Pinhão and walking distance to the restaurants and tours we chose during our stay. The view from the shared living room was spectacular, looking out over the Douro river. The home is clean, bright and tastefully decorated. Our room was comfortable and spacious, with a walkout to a small patio. The owner, Hugo, and his mother went out of their way to make our stay an enjoyable one. A highlight of our trip to Portugal, for sure.
We stayed on the ground floor, and were pleasantly surprised by the size, and presentation of our room. The view from our 'terrace', the 'pool' and the breakfast room was beautiful - probably the nicest in all of Pinhao! The location is also ideal if you don't mind a 10/15 minute walk to the centre of Pinhao - although I wouldn't recommend the route for young families as the start of the walk is along the roadside. There is also a gorgeous HUGE dog who lives on site - a gentle giant :)
We had an amazing time staying with Pedro & Sara! They were super friendly and had the best tips on where to go in Pinhão and the Douro valley. This hostel is clearly being run by people who love what they’re doing and who have a clear vision of what creates a good hostel. The roof terrace and other facilities were also amazing! I highly recommend this hostel to anyone traveling to Pinhão. And definitely listen to Pedro’s tips ;)
I really enjoyed my stay at the Hostel. Pedro and Sara are great hosts. They make you feel as a part of their family. Pedro also provided several recommendations on restaurants and hiking in the Pinhao valley and helped with booking wine tastings. The rooms are very clean and well maintained. The hostel also has a beautiful terrace garden with nice views.
I highly recommend this place and look forward to visit them again.
Our stay at Casas Botelho Elias exceeded our expectations! We traveled around Portugal with multiple stops along the way and this was by far our favorite stay of the whole trip. Pinhao is so beautiful and everyone in town was incredibly nice. The space itself felt very authentic and immediately made us feel at home. We were able to meet the host who was extremely kind and accommodating. Thank you for a fantastic stay!
LBV was such a fantastic surprise.
The hotel, really a first class guesthouse,is beautifully designed. I say guesthouse because they don't offer any food other than breakfast, which is perfectly fine given that they have a really good restaurant down the road in Pinhao. Our room, number 2, was beautiful and the balcony huge, overlooking the stunning pool area.
Nothing. We weren’t able to stay there. The property in no accessible. My partner is handicapped and there was no parking on the property or on the street anywhere near the property. It’s NOT a three Starr property. The owned still hasn’t answered my emails. Very dissatisfied with this booking. We ended up stay at another hotel for the evening.
The location was excellent. It’s located by the river with easy access to boat cruises, short walks to amazing quintas and restaurants. The grounds of the hotel was beautifully maintained and a feast to the eyes. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent.
Perfect location in Pinhao on the banks of the Douro river. Easy access to boat trips and restaurants. Several Quintas in walking distance. Very nice pool and grounds. Our room was really comfortable and with views to the river on three sides . Plenty of parking which is free.
Antonio was a great host and was great at communicating. This is a cosy and well located place in Pinhao. Would recommend to anyone wanting a taste of Douro Valley. Parking on street was free and quite easy to find.
Wonderful location offering fantastic views, 10 minute drive from Pinhão. Great pool and garden space. Delicious home/cooked dinner menu and good breakfast. Lovely, welcoming host, Beatriz. This was our second visit.
Excellent view of Pinhao from the little terrace area which is shared with the adjacent apartment. Large bedroom, plenty of hot water for showers, just about adequate kitchen equipment, helpful owners.
A beautiful location close to Pinhão. The views are great. The hostess is very nice. She greeted us with wine, bread and sardines. And she did laundry for us. The cat and the dog are very friendly.
cosy house, very well located to spend a couple of days in Pinhao and to hike in the wineyards
Helena is really attentive, and hear breakfasts arr first class
