It is an excellent house to stay a few days to rest, you will find a quite small village where silence and nice neighbors surround you. The house atmosphere is very typical and it is well-equipped. The host is very close to you and careful.

Super place - Bruno and Peggy are friendly and helpful owners, the village is quiet and peaceful and beautiful. The property itself is great - a brilliantly well stocked kitchen, a really good washing machine (soooo nice to come home with some clean clothes!), free parking, a roof terrace, really it had everything we could need for a few days' stay.

We loved the whole place, it had everything we needed, all the amenities were as advertised.
We even had a local baker selling bread door to door.
Alcoutim is a beautiful town, very friendly and calm.
Alcoutim is a beautiful town, very friendly and calm. We ate at restaurants BH and O Contrabandista which were both exceptional. You can take a small boat 5 minutes across the river to Spain to another small town. There is a cool zip wire for 20 euros which crosses the border back to Portugal. There is lots of 14th century history in both towns. Legend says it’s a place where contraband was smuggled during battles. The overall peacefulness of the place is very relaxing and pleasant.

The hotel was very clean, the room pleasant but small, very quiet and peaceful excellent for chilling out.
Not a lot to see, restricted in restaurants, trip to Spain via the small ferry interesting, but again very little to see.
Surrounding area worth a visit

The hotel is set in a quiet location and has great views across the river (Spain is on the other side). The town of Alcoutim has good restaurants within walking distance ( 10 to 15 minutes). The hotel seems to attract Portuguese families with young children so the pool was always busy and noisy. The town has a small ferry boat to take you to the other side or take you on trips up and down the river (30 minutes or 1 hour for 7.50 euros or 15 euros respectively). There is also a river beach nearby but we did not use it. There are canoes, kayaks and jet-skis to hire very close to the hotel. The hotel room does not provide tea/coffee-making facilities. When we asked for a kettle they said they only had one which they needed for breakfast.

Near to Algarve beaches and near to Spain is a nice place to stay, but Managers should pay more atention and be able to do more to increase the profits.

A nice little village in the inner part of Algarve, close to the Spanish border. There isn't much to do there, but if you are looking for a place to get some rest away from everything, you will find it in Alcoutim. It gets HOT on Summer days, locals said it also gets COLD in Winter.
There are some monuments worth a visit, there are a handful of restaurants, there are some river activities. There is only a very small groceries shop, there are no supermarkets.

If you’re looking for a quiet, clean hotel with a good pool...
If you’re looking for a quiet, clean hotel with a good pool and great view over river Guadiana, that’s the place to go.
The area might be to hot during the summer pick (July, Aug) so, maybe is better to visit in May, October with moderate temperatures.
The surroundings and river banks are bucolic and at some points mesmerizing. You can easily visit other interesting cities: Mértola (a must) and Vila Real 35km south close to Algarve warmest beaches.
We picked the English Breakfast, it costs 10 euros, it was not worth it, NO espresso coffee, only fast machine cappuccinos, its a set plate with bacon, scrambled eggs, hot dogs, No water included either. It is not a buffet, it is served to us with limited servings if I don't want the bacon or hot dogs but extra scramble eggs must pay extra, +1.5, + 1.00 for bread, butter etc. Best to get continental and add what you like or skip it altogether and go to Alcoutim cafe
Great 3 star hotel for some relaxing days out of confusing touristic sites. The quietness and tranquility near the Guadiana river. Fantastic poll with great view listening the birds and looking the boats in the river! Very relaxing. Breakfast was very good with local traditional food. Staff was great. Alcoutim has some restaurants with good simple tradicional food at nice walking distance. Hotel bar has some light meals.
The hotel and staff are great, so they shouldn't be penalized from our experience of the surrounding. The pool is amazing and fresh. During the day it was very quiet. Hotel bar is enough to get your refreshments and some food. Breakfast has good choices. It is a good place to spend a weekend and chill.
We love this hotel. This is our second visit and it's just perfect. The service the staff and the facilities - pool to die for! This is the first time we took our teenage kids and they loved it too. We had the toasta mistas for lunch and they were amazing .We will be back!
All the food from breakfast and dinner at the Hotel was a very good surprise! Travelling by bike we found a nice place for storage on the arrival.
On the day after, we had a lot of fun cannoning on Guadiana river.
The hotel is ‘old school’ but has obviously been renovated to a high standard very recently.
As a result it retains its charm, and still meets modern standards - which is an achievement.
What's not to love...The best hotel in Alcoutim. Great hotel situated a short walk from the centre of Alcoutim. Friendly, helpful staff, fantastic room, lovely pool and a great breakfast.
very clean modern but friendly Hotel not too big with great location and views and fantastic pool and garden only ten mins to town centre. right on the river looking at Spain!
