Comfortable accomodation in a very beautiful area, the apartment is set up beautifully and was peaceful. We enjoyed a yummy cooked breakfast with lots of extras. Linda is a lovely friendly host who made us feel super welcome.

This remote property up on the moors is on a working farm surrounded by endless moorland fields and sky. We loved the Granary. It’s small but has everything you might need tastefully decorated. The hot tub was a bonus although rainy weather meant I finally got in there at 7.30am on bank holiday Monday when the sun shone. It’s well located for visiting the Roman forts, Corbridge and walking along the wall.

Haltwhistle was a great location to access Hadrians wall and the Roman forts , we were there on May bank holiday Sunday and almost all the town was shut up except a couple of restaurants and a co op shop. On BH Monday there was one pub serving food and they had shut the kitchen by 7.15 pm having run out of food. I found the town deserted which was a shame.We ate in Jethros cafe on the Sunday night which was great , lovely food and waitresses , can recommend that cafe.carolineUnited Kingdom - 10Scored 10

Liked Haltwhistle been before , Good Centre for the Roman Wall experience, Would recommend to anybody. Also could leave you car as there is a good bus service in the Town to Newcastle Alston Carlisle and the Roman sites, Good food available in the town also supermarkets. The town is marketed as being the geometric centre of Great Britain. It may well be. It is ideally situated a short drive from Hexham and roughly midway between Carlisle and Newcastle. A pleasant and friendly small town ideally positioned to explore Hadrians Wall and a great place to base a walking, cycling and mountain biking holiday. Additionally some great driving roads and little traffic. Some good pubs locally or within a short drive or cycle.

We only spent one night but it is in a perfect spot for visiting Hadrian's Wall. It is near the best museum- Vindolanda and the best section of the wall (Cawfield Quarry) if you want to get a good taste of the Wall but only have a limited amount of time, like we did.

The room was cosy and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. Bathroom toiletries included hair conditioner: a wonderful, unexpected bonus! The cooked breakfasts were delicious and very good value for money. Food in general was excellent: we had dinner here every day. We got a taxi into Haltwhistle one evening and had dinner but the other nights we just spent enjoying the sun in the lovely garden.

The fresh milk in the fridge was a lovely touch for the tea and coffee. The bath towels were enormous and very fresh smelling too.
