The breakfast was amazing, especially as I am gluten free. Great quality and lots of variation.

A very good host and attentive staff. A great breakfast to start your day off, and was a good base to visit gretna green and dumfries and on to castle douglas. Then back to hotel for a nice drink, food and comfy bed.

Lovely Hotel, 400 years old and lots of character, very friendly, regular bus service to Lockerbie, Annan, Gretna and Carlisle. We had a great adventure. Hotel was very friendly and we loved our stay. The food was good pub grub and the hotel was lovely as was the room. We had a beautiful on suite. A big comfy bed. Absolutely no complaints at all and we shall go back. Thank you Mary and our lovely barmaid Karen. Nothing was too much trouble.

We were welcomed as soon as we arrived by Ste who was more than helpful during our stay. The landlady made a point of coming to sit near us during the evening and we had a nice conversation not only with her but a local gentleman called Ben who we had a few drinks with. The barmaid was really good and although the place was busy she didn't drop a stitch. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again on the next trip to Scotland.

This hotel was a real home from home.
This hotel was a real home from home.
Each room was full of fascinating historical artefacts and the owner was keen to tell us about the history of the building.
There are open fires and cosy sitting rooms to enjoy.
The welcome was very warm.
location was good for a break on way from Scotland to England. Host was super, food was great, room really comfy. genuine, homely atmosphere (thanks for letting me put logs on the fire). Recommend homemade Ecclefechan tart and yummy sticky toffee pudding. Hope to visit again - thanks to all for your hospitality.
Great location with very friendly and professional staff. We ate at the hotel and the dinner was excellent and far exceeded our expectations, the bar prices were very reasonable too. Good sized room, very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was also excellent.
We liked the location and the proximity to the hotel where we had dinner on the first night. We liked the size of all the rooms especially the bedrooms. The bedding and towels were spotless as were all the dishes in the kitchen.
Good sized room. Comfortable bed. Good breakfast and nice dinner the previous evening. The Ecclefechan Tart was delicious! The inscriptions in Latin on the lintels above the room windows were a nice touch.
Really easy to find, without driving miles away from your travel route. Car park behind the hotel. Evening meal even though we arrived later than expected. Good pub atmosphere with fantastic staff.
Spent 1 night and the room was really clean with all details in place. Bit of fresh milk, different types of coffee, warm and same level of a hotel, but smaller.
The hosts were very welcoming. The evening meal and breakfast where very good. We had a lovely room with a great view. We would recommend a stay at this hotel.
