St Nicholas House, hotel in Crowland

Between Spalding and Market Deeping, St Nicholas House is an 18th-century manor house in the Lincolnshire countryside.

Out of town location is nice (although the noise from the large trucks on a reasonably busy road sometimes became annoying), staff were friendly, and the breakfast was good.

Crowland is a small friendly town.

Crowland is a small friendly town. It has two small supermarkets, a bakery, a fish and chip shop and several restaurants/takeaways. It has a few shops selling non food items. The Trinity bridge in the centre of the town is worth a look. The Abbey is spectacular and the volunteers in the adjoining parish church are knowledgeable and helpful about the history of it. The library is well resourced.

    Not a touristy place.

Not a touristy place. The Abbey church and ruins are worth a visit and we had a good Sunday lunch at Ye Old Abbey but booking essential. The Deepings nature reserve and lakes are great for walking and the river Welland is lovely.
