Ieper (Ypres) is an ideal base for exploring WW1 sites & cemetaries. The historic Cloth Hall contains an impressive museum and if you go it's worth paying the extra few euros to climb the 230 steps to the top of the bell tower. The views of the city are impressive from here.
The Last Post Ceremony every night at 8 pm is a moving and thought provoking tribute. It's a must if you can make it.

Ieper holds a horrendous history when it comes down to the tragic loss of life.
But on the other hand it has a sense of peace when you walk around.
The battles took place 108 years ago, so its good that there are still preserved sites to visit that this is never forgotten.

Ypres is a wonderful experience. Visit Menin Gate at 8pm each evening and hear the last post played for the fallen of the Great War.
On a Monday most shops and all restaurants and museums are closed.

A history lovers perfect place, and also a grim reminder of the horrors of war.
But we could learn a lot from the Belgium community who are the friendliest most welcoming people, with a country they are proud to show off.

Ypres is a lovely little town, friendly, peaceful and extremely clean. We loved out stay there and would highly recommend it. Menin Gate is not available currently so if you are planning a trip to see it, check out when the restoration will be complete.
Nice clean hotel with nice garden to have a picknick. Also very easy to park your car and even a safe place to keep your hired bikes for some days. Breakfast was also very tasty. For people that want to have a good walk, you can also walk to the center of the city in a small hour. If good weather you can also easily have your breakfast outside in the morning sun. In the room you can easily put the window open without to be afraid for musquitos.
Brilliant location, short stroll to the centre couldn't have been better. We had the two rooms on the top (4th) floor as a family of four and a private bathroom on the 2nd floor. Free tea and coffee in the dining area. Free WiFi. Free parking on street outside. Very clean and new.
Unusual check in, you knock on the door of the owners house two doors down but she was lovely and came and showed us around. Very welcoming.
The apartment is beautiful, very spacious and comfortable for 4 people, also well equipped for preparing meals when you want a break from eating out. It's a perfect alternative to staying in a hotel, especially for a family. It's ideally situated to explore Ypres on foot but also in a quiet location and there is parking very close by. The hosts Peter & Valery are very helpful. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Staff incredibly helpful especially with helping me find disabled parking as the Ypres Rally had been on. Room was clean, bed was very comfy, room was on the smaller side but lovely and quiet and we spent all day out so didn't matter, bathroom was lovely, modern and clean, easy to get ready in, and shower pressure was good! Great location just on the market square and not far from the Menin Gate.
The owner Vincent was really friendly, a bit of a joker who made us feel extremely welcome when we checked in. His banter continued when we met him again at breakfast the following morning where we were offered a fried breakfast which was very unexpected. Great host. The location of the hotel is also idea as it only a short walk in to Ypres centre with all it's bars and restaurants.
Super conveniently located in the center of Ieper, this family-run hotel offers excellent value for money. The owners are incredibly nice and helpful, the room was spotless and comfortable, and the breakfast was yummy. We had an issue with a light fixture in our room and the owner immediately came to fix it. would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended!
Location was absolutely brilliant a short walk to the centre.
Property was to a very high spec and our stay was fantastic.
We were met on arrival to a delightful host who gave a tour and told us about the area.
Free parking in the Square nearby opposite the hotel.
Absolutely loved Ypres and will definitely return and hopefully to this place.
Everything was amazing a great little Belgium hotel. Got there late for checkin was still let in. Probably the best sleep I had a few days. Room was spacious. Capped off a great visit to Europe would definitely visit again. Wifi available in entire hotel staff were very helpful. Location is very good to visit Ypres. Had a great visit thanks
The room was spacious and clean. I did not have breakfast so cannot comment.
The hotel is situated some twenty-five minutes walk from Ypres town and we had a problem getting a taxi to come out and collect us. The hotel reception did not have a list of taxi companies that we could contact, which again was inconvenient.
Absolutely amazing!! Every detail of the hotel and room was so well thought out. The breakfast was wonderful and we tried local cheeses, meats and jams. Staying here was not just a hotel room, it was an experience! Definitely the nicest hotel we have ever stayed in! (And we’ve traveled a lot).
We hit some travel snags on our way down to Ypres from Rotterdam (our train hit a car and we had to switch to a bus after a long wait). This put us arriving later than expected. Vera was kind and very helpful - THANKS!! The hotel was terrific - thanks again for the wonder hospitality.
A really fabulous stay in this hotel. Right in the centre of Ypres. The car parking (11 Euros) was also super convenient. Our rooms were comfortable, lovely bedding and towels and super clean. The hotel staff were friendly. Would definitely recommend.
Lovely room overlooking the Cloth Hall, newly refurbished throughout. Great breakfast buffet, hot and cold food. Can't fault the location! Our favourite Ypres hotel, staying here for many years when visiting.
Booked for 1 night... Then stayed on for another 3 nights..then so happy with hotel, used as base, days out for another 5 nights... That good. 5*****
Great hotel/location/price/breakfast
