Easy to get to, close to shopping yet off the busy strip!
We love Grand Forks! Lots of rich history and amazing historical architecture. Our son is stationed there, and this was our 2nd visit. One visit with snow and this time just perfect weather! There's lots to see and do, and I think they are likely one of the most dog friendly places I've ever visited. We look forward to returning in the fall. My favorite places to eat are Tea & Crepe (gluten free!!! And the best ever) and Ely's Ivy, my husband loved Red Pepper and Boss Pizza, and my 9 year old loved Pizza Ranch. Of course, we go to Scheels, while there. It's such a great store, even if you don't need anything, still go! I'm not a big shopper so I can't make many suggestions in that category. We also went to Splashers on mother's day. It's a small indoor water park. It was great! I would do it again for sure. It was just a great experience overall to visit. It's the perfect vacation for our little family.

We decided to employee a taxi or uber to go to the old downtown area (which I highly recommend visiting, lots of great restaurants) We had supper at a fun little place called the The Hub Pub, fantastic with good food and wonderful staff. When we were ready to return to our hotel but were having a difficult time confirming either an Uber or taxi. Our fantastic waitress came by and we explained the difficulty locking down transportation, she offered to see what she could do, she returned and exclaimed, "got one! I booked the Karaoke Cab!! "Partypilot Karaoke Taxi". The ride home went by too fast, we had a blast singing and laughing as sang along to the karaoke in the cab, highlight of our trip-hands down!

Unless you have reason to be in Grand Forks, keep driving...
Unless you have reason to be in Grand Forks, keep driving another hour to Fargo! Not much left to come here for unless you have a child attending North Dakota University. The only shopping left is J C Penny, less than satisfying, even Gordman's is gone. Kohl's, TJMax and Ross for Less have very little worth buying. The restaurants close early (or aren't open) so be prepared to have your evening meal at McDonald's. Everything is closed on Sunday from 12:01 a.m. until Sunday afternoon so if you want breakfast, bring it, hope the hotel offers something or drive to McDonald's.
It does have an airport however that is serviced by Allegiant Airlines and that makes Grand Forks valuable.
If you are looking to revisit rural America in the 1950s, then this is the place to come.

Very friendly people and the serving staff in restaurants were the same. Exemplary customer service skills. I did however find it odd that the front desk staff seemed to be unavailable in the morning when we were leaving? And, at this point from all the emails I’ve received I haven’t a clear idea what is going to be charged on my credit card for the two night stay and no extras. It’s confusing and I don’t appreciate it.

Grand Forks is a nice small city.
Grand Forks is a nice small city. It has most things a person could want as far as shopping, but some dining establishments are either closed or very short staffed. Getting around town is quite easy. UND has great sports facilities of all kinds. Most specifically the Ralph Engelstad Arena. Which is used for many things like college hockey and concerts.
We stayed in three hotels in three days. This was by far the least expensive but nicest of the three. Great price, beautiful clean room and best breakfast selection we saw. AC in the room was not great, but it had been extremely hot outside so maybe just AC was overworked trying to keep up. We definitely would stay again!
A few sketchy visitors throwing parties, no elevator access to 2nd floor. Smoke smell in the room mixed with mold. Small uncomfortable beds. Cheap, but for a few more bucks you can definitely find a better hotel or airbandb in town. Very good access to the airport and friendly staff.
My husband was looking forward to the breakfast as he had stayed before and really enjoyed the breakfast. But he previously stayed on a weekend and this time we were there on a weekday so the breakfast was not as spectacular but pretty much on par with similar hotels!
The location of the hotel was good, close to restaurants and shopping areas. The complimentary breakfast was fine.. eggs, sausage, toast, waffles, yogurt and coffee. The front desk staff was friendly, housekeeping gave us extra towel and got the TV working.
This hotel, although a little dated, is very good value. The hotel isn't that old but does need some updating. Our room was clean and comfortable. Looking at the negative reviews i can't imagine what people are expecting for a $45/night room.
Breakfast was fresh and on time every morning with a wide selection of choices for anyone (considering their menu was limited because of Covid restrictions). Hotel was quiet and clean, rooms confortable and staff friendly and accommodating.
I booked on short notice. Even though the hotel is pretty basic, the staff tried really hard, and the bed was fantastic. The breakfast in the morning was another good effort. Appreciated my stay.
