PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING. The setting of chai Lai Orchid is absolutely beautiful, so serene and with magnificent views. Although I was disappointed to learn that all is not what it seems and the accommodation certainly isn’t what it is advertised to be!!!
Our stay really was a tale of 2 halves, what is the experience of the elephants is absolutely stunning, so raw and wonderful and took our breath away. This we could not fault at all. Our son is obsessed with Elephants and this was a dream come true for him and so special. We reserved a number of activities to do whilst here and they did not disappoint. We had Saeme (please forgive the spelling) as our guide and I cannot speak highly enough of him, he was wonderful, so knowledgeable and helpful as well as being so caring with us and our 2 young children. He most definitely gets an 11/10!
What is so good also about the accommodation is you get so much elephant interaction without paying for excursions or activities, there really is elephants just roaming around all the time which is both surreal and incredible.
I must also say the food and the cocktails were fabulous, I had been worried that being a closed audience in the middle of the jungle the food and beverages may be overpriced and not the best quality but I could not be more wrong. Fabulous food at a really good price! I was also very pleasantly surprised with the quality of the cocktails as others we have tried thus far in Thailand had not been good.

Lovely comfortable rooms. Nice beds and bedding. Individual aircon units for room. Where picked up from over night train from Bangkok by transport arranged by Tawan lovely to go straight to tranquil location after bankok. Staying with elephants an awesome experience. Recommend bamboo rafting.

This was a last-minute booking and a good one. The cabins were very rustic, making the staying an experience. There was a mosquito net on the bed and a fan in the room. I thought I was gonna get bitten by mosquitos, but in fact, falling to sleep under the sounds of frogs was one of the best nights I had in Thailand.
The breakfast in the morning was great too!
