Hunedoara city was a very pleasant surprise.
Hunedoara city was a very pleasant surprise. The city is very clean and orderly. It can be clearly seen that the city is very well taken care of. Congrats to everyone involved in this process which surely takes a lot of work and determination. Most of the buildings private as well as official were painted nicely. The roads had the tarmac in good condition and new streets seem to be buiilded as well. The turistic sites were also nicely repaired and restored.

We only stayed one night on our way home to Hungary, therefory only visited the Corvin Castle, which is a marvellois building, but the exhibition inside is not that spectacular. Most of the information is in 4 languages (Romanian, English, German and Hungarian), which is a very positive surprise compared to other locations we visited. Two hours were enougj for the whole site.

Depending on your schedule and how much time you want to...
Depending on your schedule and how much time you want to spend in the area, a quick detour into Hunedoara for three to four hours might make more sense than staying there overnight. Having said that, there is a lot of construction going on in the area and we were probably a bit cut off from other things that might have normally been of interest. The Castle is a must see, however. Truly breathtaking. There's also a fun (yes, fun) Torture Museum full of wax figures across from the Castle. This was the last stop on our trip after stays in Bucharest, Brasov, and Sighisoara. It was the only place that I didn't wish we had more time in. I don't regret driving out to see the Castle, but it would have been better to make it a shorter stop before continuing on to Sibiu for the night.

Corvin Castle was absolutely stunning.
Corvin Castle was absolutely stunning. One of the best castles I've ever seen throughout Europe. Hotel Astoria had all the amenities, and more. The best room, a relaxing hot tub, and the breakfast was incredible. This was the BEST hotel during our Romanian trip. I was very pleased overall with the hotel accommodation.

Hunedoara is a wonderful city with many interesting things to experience. Corwin Castle is the most beautiful castle I have ever seen. There is a museum of small cars and trains that is not only interesting for children, but also for adults. Not far from the city, about 50 km, is the Clocota waterfall, which should not be missed.

It's a nice city, but small.
It's a nice city, but small. The Castle is nice to visit but it doesn't take much time to visit it. It is nice but not breathtaking. The hotel and the city itself were pretty empty except for the locals, I guess due to COVID-19. I came from Cluj, but a day trip would have been enough to see the city and the castle.
Consider visiting Deva and Castle too if you are staying in Huneodara for a night or so.
Great location managed by wonderful and passionate people!
Catalin and Dia are great hosts, welcoming their guests like they are family members. They offer very good, organic food, home-made products and very tasty delicacy.
The location is surrounded by mountains and forest, birds are singing and everything is green. They have terraces and a few nice areas where you can relax, talk, work or do your physical practice.
The place is close to Cincis Lake, Prislop Monastery and Hunedoara Castle.
First of all: the location. From everywhere (room, restaurant, spa) you will be amazed by the imposing castle view. There are very few locations in Europe that can offer something similar.
Because we were checked in 2 hrs later (exceptional situation) ,we had our rooms upgraded free of charge and a complimentary wine bottle.
All personnel very polite and attentive to our family needs.
Breakfast - very nice.
Family friendly place.
Excelent inside swimming pool, dry and wet saunas.
I really liked the location it's close to the castle the cleanliness of the room is a huge plus, the comfy floor and bed, nice design of the room and bathroom. The tv works just nicely, there is a nice looking fridge also. You have coffee and tea at the lobby and everything looks neatly arranged. We really had a nice rest. We will recommend this place to anyone who wants to ask us about Romania.
The facilities of room, the washbasin and the shower are very interesting, the bottle of wine was excellent, much need after a long drive, the restaurant is a must if you visit Hunedoara. Corvin Castle is at a walking distance, and so is Valentin Banciu Museum of Trains
The place was overall spotless, there is an AC in case you get here on a hot day and extremely comfortable bed and sofa, the view is set on the fountain and the big landmark of Hunedoara Casa de Cultura, strongly recommend !!
Insanely clean! Big parking. Cozy room styles. Pleasant staff. Very good breakfast. Great back yard with pool and fireplace and swings and overall everything for great summer leisure time. The best hotel in town!)
Worth staying, very clean, big rooms- close to everything you need to visit in Hunedoara-you can just go by walking to the castle for 15 min.
The owner also was helpful with informations about the city.
The property was perfectly close to a good shopping opportunity and a lovely pizza joint. The hotel itself was cozy and clean, the owner adept at both German and Romanian was an incredible help!
The rooms are spacious and clean. The hotel has a very good restaurant where also the breakfast is served. Outside there is a lovely garden terrace with views to the castle.
Excellent location, just a short walk to the castle. The place was super clean and the host Maria was very accommodating. We'll definitely return next time in Hunedoara.
