The location is amazing. The view is never ending and both sunrise and sunset were magical.
The bed/mattress was really comfy. Breakfast on the veranda, lots of choice, we spoke a little Portuguese and made the staff laugh with our efforts but they appreciated this and in return spoke really great English, they made us feel welcome and gave us advice on where to go and showed us shortcuts around the grounds.
The swimming pool blew my mind. The view from here is also etched into my memory.
20 mins drive from Do Pincho waterfall.
The cable car into town and back.
The church. Wow. The view. Wow again.

Gorgeous city by the sea.
Gorgeous city by the sea. Beautiful blend of the old and the new, from a bridge designed by Gustave Eiffel to a modern shopping plaza in the centre of town near the main train station. A definite Parisian feel with lots of colorful sidewalk cafes and shops along clean, tree lined streets. Viano do Castelo has a nice maritime feel to it with nearby beaches, historic old city center, many good restaurants, and sits below the amazing Santa Luzia Cathedral. One must visit the Cathedral and if daring go up to the top of the Cathedral (mix of elevator and then steps) for the best 360 degree views of the region, ocean and land.MichaelCanada - 10Scored 10

I loved everything about Viana do Castelo. It was New Year's Eve and the atmosphere was incredible. Definitely one of the best nights of my life! The people, the decorations, the lights and although a lot of fun was being had, it just felt so safe and welcoming! The next morning the streets were spotless, everyone wishing you a Happy New Year and it was all in all just perfect. I'll definitely be coming back. Lovely town to stroll around with lots of interesting buildings/architecture, nice boutiques and specialist shops and a good mix of places to eat. If we had stayed longer it would have been worth having a car but for 4 nights it was fine without. (Hotel has a car park)

Viana do Castelo is a great place to just relax if you want to get away from the tourist scene in the big cities. It's easy to go on day trips and outdoor activities from there. The food was amazing, the people polite and friendly. We hope to go back.

GPS was taking us further down the beach than the actual location, so we were very happy we found it. Room was very nice with a view. The beach at this stage is mostly rocks, and during our stay in May it was fairly cool out, but great views. Overall, a very nice stay for our journey.
