We stayed for one night, in the house with 2 bedrooms. Very clean and comfortable, with a small kitchen and a fridge. The houses are located near a lake and the rest zone is fully equipt, where you can chill, listen to nature and make a barbecue. Great communication with the staff, very helpful.
Private Douro- Quinta das Susandas features a landscape, overlooking green areas. The rural property includes an outdoor swimming pool. The Douro riverside area is a 5-minute drive away.

Quinta das Susandas is an amazing and recently renovated property in a beautiful and peaceful land, ideal for taking some break and rest from the city life. The rooms are spacious and have all the comforts you need. The staff is polite and gentle, always available and willing to make your stay enjoyable. We were welcomed by Marcelo - who is managing the family-owned property - in a very pleasant tour of the property, which included a taste of their own produced Porto wine (also available in the bedroom) and some tips on what to visit/do around.
The property is located in a strategic position to explore the Douro region.
The only regret is we stayed only one night.
Casa de Carrapatelo is situated in Mesão Frio and has a pool with a view and garden views. This property offers access to a terrace, free private parking and free WiFi.

The village of Mesao Frio was a long steep walk from our accommodation Imaginario d'El-Rei but was well worth it. We ate in the local family restaurant Atasca Do Zequinha which was run by a brother and sister. It was right at the top the hill and was almost like going into their own home. The food was excellent along with the local wines and you were made to feel part of the family. We enjoyed it so much that we returned again for our second night.

Mesao Frio is a small, quaint town in the Douro hills at the western end of Portuguese wine country. A small number of charming restaurants, nice people and vineyards abound. Great base for exploring the Upper Douro and Portugal's fantastic wine country.

Almost impossible to find - no sign, no house number.
Almost impossible to find - no sign, no house number. When I entered, I thought I was going into someone's living room. Didn't look like an inn/B&B. The owner was smoking and the entire place smelled awful. His daughter was ironing. Very odd. Had to walk up flight of stairs with luggage. Breakfast was minimal, we had to wait for bread delivery. Bathroom was tiny and shower was too.
We stayed in 10 different places this trip and this was the most expensive and the worst of all of them. Very disappointed.
We spent over 2 hours trying to find this place. A elderly woman selling cherries by the roadside was finally able to get us there. It was Sunday and by the time we found place, no place was open for dinner. Grade of F.
This was an amazing experience, much more exceeded our expectations. The personnel was very nice and helpful, lunch and dinner was just perfect, while a breakfast was the best breakfast we ever tried. We had a lot of travel and hotel stay all over the world, but this experience was one of the best:
starting from tiny details in terms of interior and exterior, food, wine and overall personnel. We’d recommend for sure to spent 2-3 nights at this beautiful place😊
Every room has a fantastic view of the Douro River! The casa was a great base for us to explore the Douro region from. It is also a short walk from Mesão Frio, which has good options for cafes and dinner. Our host couldn’t have been nicer and went the extra mile to be sure we were comfortable, including having his English-speaking son on hand to make check-in easy. The daily breakfast was delicious!
Our room (like most) had chairs and a table outside our door which overlooks the Douro Valley. Breakfast is brought to your room every morning and it is very peaceful to eat, relax and enjoy the view. For us, this was the reason we stayed here. The easy mornings were a highlight of the trip. The hotel is also located near many vineyards just a short drive away. The owners and staff are very nice.
This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. Everyone working there is so friendly and the service is excellent. Breakfast a la carte, super affordable dinner options and the premises are an absolute dream. We had a birthday celebration and they were full of unexpected details and little extra tokens.
Plus: Becas, the house dog, is our new favorite dog!
The vineyard was located high on the hill near the village of Mesão Frio, with an open vista of the Douro Valley. The environment is tranquil and natural, surrounded by plantations and with a swimming pool to take dips in the hot summer weather. The owners/staff were fantastic, especially Senhor Carlos who was friendly, humble, and happy to help with anything.
We had an amazing stay. The room was large, with all facilities. The room, common areas and the whole property were spotless clean. Several outdoor spaces to rest and enjoy a glass of wine. Within a 10-15 minutes walk you are in the village of Mesao Frio with services and restaurants. The location is great to explore the Alto Douro Vinhateiro region
The hotel was amazing! very nice rooms, clean and comfy. the family room was great with lots of board games to play. we were surprised to find out that there is an indoor pool and gym (good surprise (; ). The restaurant was very good! great food at dinner and also at breakfast. And last, the view from the hotel is amazing!
The hotel is very well located and has an amazing view! The hosts are very friendly and also the breakfast was very delicious. We could use the pool and we enjoyed to sit on the terrace with a glass of wine with this incredible view. We can highly recommend this place!
Best experience of our 12 day trip to Portugal. The hosts make you feel like home with Port wine in the room. We booked for dinner which we highly recommend as it became a special evening of exquisite food good wine and fun conversation with other travelers.
The hotel is located in a picturesque location. The building is filled with family history, which creates a unique flavor. The view from the window is very picturesque. We also really enjoyed breakfast; it took place in a wonderful dining room.
Wonderful stay. This was our favourite place to stay during our three week trip in Portugal. We wish we were able to stay longer. Peaceful and stunning views. Kind staff and comfortable rooms. Great food and wine. Lovely.
Gorgeous location and lovely balcony with a view along the Douro. The house is beautiful. Breakfast is fantastic. Great supper recommendations for a local restaurant that serves yummy Portuguese food in Mesāo Frio.
Quinta da Veiga was the hotel we stayed at not the above mentioned. The accommodations, meals, view and staff were spectacular and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
We liked everything, the room, the hotel design & décor, cleaning, breakfast, location, the owners advise, help and warm welcoming and the staff, AC response.
